About this Service

We are seeking participants for an anonymous research study exploring the connection between emotions and the voice. Participation involves various speaking tasks, including discussing your day, reading aloud, sustaining vowel sounds, and sharing a personal story.

Throughout these tasks, heart and skin responses will be measured using non-invasive sensors placed on the chest, back, neck, and hands. Participants will also complete a questionnaire about demographic information, medical history, relationships, hypothetical scenarios, and stressful life events.

To be eligible, you must be an adult without a history of hearing impairment or heart disease, have no current respiratory issues or voice-related problems, and you should neither be an active smoker nor taking stimulants. Participation will involve both sitting and standing.

The study lasts about 2.5 hours, and participants will receive a $30 donation as compensation upon completion. With permission, voice recordings may be used as study material for future research.

About this Lister

The Principal Investigator is a psychologist with a doctorate
degree in experimental psychology, focusing on emotion, voice, and psychophysiology. The study is conducted in association with the New School for Social Research.
