Hey! I’m looking for a roommate to fill the second bedroom in my true 2 bed, 2 bath apartment. My current roommate and I have lived here for two years and love the apartment, but he’s moving out of state for a PhD program.
The Bedroom:
The bedroom is roughly 13.5’ x 7.5’ and has a built-in closet. My roommate was able to fit an armoire (which he’s happy to leave behind if you want it), a nightstand, and a queen-sized bed in the room. Both bedrooms are east-facing and get plenty of sunlight in the mornings! You’ll also have your own bathroom, which is located in the hallway.
The Building:
The apartment is on the top floor of a 3-story walk-up, mixed-use building located near 5th Ave and 11th St in Park Slope. We know both of our very sweet neighbors who live below us. Every now and then we run into Kevin (our second-floor neighbor’s senior dog) in the hallway—which is always the highlight of our day.
The Apartment:
My roommate and I have loved living here for the past two years! The living room is west-facing and gets plenty of sunlight in the evenings, and the sunsets are incredible. We even have a view of Manhattan from the living room, which is a huge bonus. I love collecting mid-century modern furniture, so most of our living room is furnished with vintage pieces. The kitchen isn’t huge, but it’s functional—especially with the island. You’ll have access to all the cooking equipment and utensils we have. We also have a dishwasher and a full-size washer and dryer in the apartment, which is super convenient. Plus, we have access to the rooftop!
Furnishing:
The bedroom will be unfurnished, but my roommate is willing to leave the armoire you see in the pictures if you’d like. The rest of the apartment will be fully furnished, so this place would be ideal for someone who doesn’t have a lot of furniture or things to bring. That includes all the living room furniture, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, etc. The only thing my roommate might take is the kitchen island.
The Neighborhood:
I’ve loved living in Park Slope! It’s a family-oriented neighborhood but still super lively—especially along 5th Ave and 7th Ave. There are farmers’ markets on the weekends and tons of great cafes. My favorite part is how close it is to Prospect Park—it’s about a 15-minute walk.
We’d be a good fit if:
You enjoy a good balance of personal time and hangouts! I’d prefer to be friends with my roommate and spend time together, but I’m also very respectful of alone time and need it myself. I work from home 3–4 days a week, so ideally I’m looking for someone who works in-person to give us both some personal space during the day.
I’m not a clean freak, but I do like to keep the apartment tidy and follow a “clean as you go” vibe. A few dishes in the sink are totally fine, but I’d love for them to make it into the dishwasher by the end of the next day. I usually do a more thorough clean on weekends, so it’d be great to share that responsibility.
It’d be nice to live with someone around my age (mid-20s), but I’m open to anyone who’s responsible, clean, and kind! LGBTQIA+ friendly.
Please tell me a bit about yourself in your message—and if you’re on IG, feel free to send your handle! Who knows, maybe we have a mutual :)
Hey! I'm Chris (26M), and I've been living in this apartment for two years. I'm originally from Seattle but have lived in a few places before ending up here in New York. I'm currently a product designer and work from home 3-4 days a week.
My hobbies include bouldering, creating cyanotypes and other forms of art, hosting my radio show on Fridays, and pickleball with my current roommate!
