Hi! I'm leaving town for roughly the month of July, and I'm seeking a subletter and catsitter to enjoy the space and look after two sweet gentle pets. Start and end dates are flexible.

I live in a much loved, book-filled, lamp-adorned apartment in Bay Ridge -- it's spacious, gets wonderful light, faces a courtyard with a trellis and tree and hydrangea and rose bushes, on a quiet street. It's .3 miles to the Bay Ridge Ave R, .8 miles to the N (8 min / 16 min for me), and in the rare fastidiously maintained prewar building -- a lovely super and porter. It's at the heart of an insane collection of amazing food down here -- it's also a great apartment for hosting. It's farther south than I'd lived before, and it's been a great trade-off to have space at home and space from the pell-mell, with lots of small shops/a sweet community, while still being connected to big Brooklyn arteries via the R.

Some features in brief:

- Spacious bedroom, queen bed, reading corner
- Great light (not really pictured, with the rainy days) + warm lamp lighting throughout with a smart switch
- Wall of closet space
- Bluetooth-enabled stereo system that my father respects
- Good TV in a modesty cabinet, with all the logins, even... Apple+
- Well-equipped kitchen (spices, blenders, Instant Pot for summer cooking)
- Bike storage and laundry in basement - with small library and couches and tables....
- Impressively nice trash/recycling room + fun hall chute
- Courtyard garden + trellis
- Window AC and fans
- Big tub, great shower pressure, mineral salts courtesy the Park Slope Food Coop
- No neighbor noise, on the top/4th floor, sound of birds...
- Castle-type roof with view of the Verrazano twinkling at night

The neighborhood:
- 5 min from Yemen Cafe, with a perfect $3 bowl of lentil-lamb-broth soup and cardamom tea that I sometimes have every day
- Handmade pasta at Piccante, tons of family-run restaurants, Tanoreen which has some designation from Michelin and yet is affordable, Ayat, amazing bakeries, amazing baklava, the best falafel of my life around the corner at Al Aqsa Bakery
- 5 min from Balady Grocery, known to denizens of far-flung NJ and Queens for their olives, olive oil, spice, veg, breads, chocolate, assorted imported treats
- 10 min from iconic grocer Fei Long Market and dim sum East Harbor Sea Food Palace
- 5 min from Alpine Cinema, an old-school multiplex with $6 tickets on Wednesdays
- 10 min from Leif Ericson Park, with seniors line dancing and the youth playing tennis and pickleball -- both open to newcomers
- Just great wholesome vibes a stone's throw from Brooklyn Chinatown and from Sunset Park's food and monumental swimming pool (7 min biking)
- Biking to Coney Island along Shore Road
- Transpo: the R gets me to Cobble Hill/Red Hook easily via the FG at 4th-9th and everywhere else via Atlantic, Dekalb, and Jay St. I find it's like adding 15-20 min onto a Park Slope location, so Bushwick is still far, but...it's always far. I commute painlessly and direct to downtown Manhattan, and you could too! (Take my job!)

The rent is heartily discounted to account for caring for Silvie and Puccini!

Silvie and Puccini:

They're low-maintenance, affectionate sweeties, and their life has a predictable rhythm. I've catsat and catsat-rented for lots of people, and these two, taking a disinterested perspective, are highly ranked. Puccini is an open-hearted cuddler who consents to be carried/placed anywhere and will drape herself on your arm and purr. Silvie is a wise beauty. Neither of them will cry if you do not want them to sleep in the bedroom. Their litter situation has been honed to an easy, no-dust-or-odor, once-or-twice-a-week science. They're playful, innocent, and sleepy, and I love coming home to them.

Feel free to get in touch with q's about any of the above!
