I'm offering my Lower East Side/Chinatown one bedroom apartment for sublet beginning in mid-late July. Dates and length of stay may be negotiable. Around the corner from the F train and in the heart of one of the city’s most dynamic neighborhoods, location is this apartment's best feature.
The building has two art galleries in front and the apartment is set back from the street so it is typically very quiet. Steps away, the bars and restaurants on Canal between Allen and Essex Streets are buzzing. It's a cozy spot perfect for a visiting artist, commuter or medical student who wants to stay close to home on weekends. I work in the neighborhood and am available if you have questions.
When you enter, the refrigerator is just opposite the door to the right as is the bathroom and its north facing window. Immediately opposite is the bedroom. It is large with high ceilings and could easily accommodate a queen size bed. A shaft window provides minimal light where the portable air conditioner is installed. Just outside the bedroom is the dining nook, kitchen, and window to the yard. Though there are no closets shelving throughout offer ample storage space.
I'm offering the apartment unfurnished or semi-furnished. The current furniture is somewhat different from what is pictured, but can include a bed, dining table and chairs. Bedding, towels, kitchen items, etc are also available. All utilities are included (electricity within reason, gas, water, internet). Amenities include full-size appliances, a portable air conditioner and small outdoor space. Nearest off-site laundry is one block away. Though the apartment is located on the first floor, the building may not be fully accessible. Let me know if you need more details.
Within fifteen minutes or less on foot you can see, eat, or buy almost anything:
Metrograph, Le Dive, Clandestino, Corner Bar, Cervos, Seward Park Library, Dimes, Lyles & King Gallery, Superette Vintage, Fugazi, Scarr's Pizza, Trader Joe's, Knickerbocker Station Post Office, Essex Market, Chinatown Supermarket of Manhattan, James Veloria Vintage, Sandy Liang, Kiki's, Kossars Bagels, Mei Lai Wah, Leisir, Parcelle, Banh by Lauren, The Dreamers coffee house, Century Pharmacy, Kopitiam
I'm a librarian and hate commuting. I am the leaseholder and primary tenant of the apartment until recently. I still live close by. Maintenance requests and other issues can go through me. There are some young families, older people and long-term tenants in the building. Though most people are minding their own business, no one minds a little friendliness. I hope to find someone community minded who loves the neighborhood for exactly what it is to potentially take over my lease and become similarly invested.
