Neighborhood

Columbia County/Berkshire County, Chatham

Hi!

We are a family of four—mom, dad, and two young children—relocating to the Hudson Valley this summer. We are looking for a long term rental in Columbia or Berkshire counties as our older daughter will be attending the Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School this fall, and are excited to integrate ourselves into that community.

We are returning to the northeast after about ten years in other parts of the country as it’s really where we want to raise our children.

We’re open to a house or apartment with two to three bedrooms, and we would really love to have some outdoor space available for the kids to play, and perhaps to start a small garden. Ideally we’d like to be fairly close to the school—looking at Ghent, Chatham, Hudson, Philmont/Claverack, and into Massachusetts as well. For the time being, the most important thing for us is finding a place that is welcoming to small children, our’s are three and a half and almost one. If there’s additional space for Travis to have a workspace/studio that would be the icing on the cake.

As we are new to the area, though familiar, we might like to be somewhere that’s a little more densely populated or walkable, or we might want to have lots of room to get out into nature. We aren’t totally sure yet, but are open to different things. We’re aiming for a budget of up to about $2k/month, and are hoping to move in by August 1st. If this sounds like a good fit I’d love to connect.

About This Lister

Hi!

We are a family of four—mom, dad, and two young children. We are returning to the northeast, where we met, after about ten years away. I, Allison, will be working remotely in fundraising and grant writing, while looking for something more local, and eventually making a big career change. I’ve been at home with the kids for three years. Travis is an artist, and will be studying Christopher Alexander’s architectural methods through a remote program this fall.

At this time in our lives we’re pretty low key, and plan to spend our time getting to know the region and community—taking walks and hiking, getting to know other artists, making sourdough pizza, taking occasional trips to the city to visit friends and museums. We hope to be really active in the Hawthorne Valley community once school begins.

Happy to share more!
