I named my wifi network "Sloop 1899" because my apartment was built in 1899 and I think of it as my trusty sailing ship that I navigate the particularly tricky seas that are our world these days.

I'm looking for someone who would like to look after it for a month or so (I can be somewhat flexible) as I test out some other waters.

My one bedroom apartment is about 550 square feet and has VERY high ceilings (12 ft?) and windows facing east and west. It occupies the second floor of its 4-story building (4 units) built in the 19th century, so it has lots of old school pre-war features (for those of you who are into that kind of thing). There is no elevator.

The building is situated in a particularly quiet section of Williamsburg (near to East Williamsburg on native Munsee Lenape / Canarsie land), that was/is predominantly a working class Italian-American neighborhood. I think it is just the best. You (maybe you, definitely a professional) could throw a baseball to the L or G stop which is really optimal for getting to the rest of Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Queens. It is also about 5 minutes from McCarren Park, which is the largest green space in North Brooklyn. Also many of the best restaurants from every cuisine are close by.

The rooms:

The living room is where it's at. This is where I watch movies or listen to records on my very solid entry level hi fi stereo system from my Article mid-century style couch. It's also where I work from home (my majesty palm makes for a nice Zoom background) or make music in my "more productive area" behind the couch which has a desk and keyboard stands.

The eat-in kitchen has been updated since this picture was taken. It now has a full kitchen island and kitchen nook / booth thing (I'll post updated photos this week). It has the usual appliances (stove, oven, microwave, and normal-size fridge) and some other useful ones (water heater for tea or coffee, rice cooker, Ninja blender, and a toaster oven). The kitchen also has some lively plant life.

The bedroom is VERY cozy. It is mainly just bed. But it is a nice one. I have a Purple queen size mattress which I love very much and you will too.

Bathroom is also pretty cozy, but has everything you need, plus a nice old pre-war style tub.

About This Lister

I'm a mid-to-late 30s native New Yorker (he/him) who has rented this place since summer 2020. I work remotely in progressive politics. I also make music (piano/synthesizer + voice), play tennis, and write. I like to keep the place clean if not always neat, because clean means no unwanted visitors (none yet!). I also like to keep it neat when I can because that helps keep me sane. I have a great relationship with my landlord who lives elsewhere, and I'd like to keep it that way.
