Spacious, comfortable 3 bed, 1.5 bath brick house on “the Hill” (blocks from RPI), with a large backyard.
We are looking to rent our well built 3 bed, 1.5 bath brick home on a wide lot (7,405 sq ft) starting mid / late August - May 2025, with a flexible start /end date. Our preferences would be a shared rental ($1500/mo, not including utilities) in which we would have access to the guest room and storage in the basement. We are also open to a full rental ($2200/mo, not including utilities). For both options the house will be partial - fully furnished. Pets allowed.
For a shared rental, we anticipate visiting & staying over for a few nights no more than 2x a month, every other week. The house would be yours entirely while we aren't there. The primary bedroom and upstairs office (third bedroom) will be entirely unfurnished (unless we arrange something different). Pictures 1-7 are taken recently.
About Us:
We are a married couple in our 40’s & 50’s spitting our time between Troy, NY & Boston, MA as one of us (Celia) completes her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling in Boston, MA. We have a very sweet, loving dog - Maize - who may be joining us when we stay in the house. Mostly it will be Daniel visiting 2x a month to see his Mom, Lita, who lives in Lenox, MA.
We love Troy, NY and are excited to return to it fully in 2027 when Celia has completed her degree. We’d like to continue to be in the community we’ve built there while splitting our time, hence our interest in a shared rental option. We hope to attract people interested in moving to Troy, with the potential that you may fall in love with it like we have. We also welcome visiting faculty or graduate students seeking a beautiful house that’s accessible to campus.

About the House:
Built in 1938, the house includes a gracious living room with a wood burning fireplace, a lovely 4-season sun porch off the living room, and a large sundrenched eat-in kitchen. There are hardwood floors throughout. Outside is a large flat fenced backyard with a deck and shed.
The upstairs includes the primary bedroom, with a door that opens to the roof above the sun porch, a full bathroom, guest bedroom and the third bedroom, which is currently used as an office. There’s an ample basement with washer, dryer and storage. The house has quality, charm and character. It’s on a quiet tree-lined street, a short walk to the RPI campus and about fifteen minutes on foot to downtown Troy. It’s a convenient drive to shopping and to all that the Capital District has to offer.
Recently Updated: gutters, basement lighting, water heater, high efficiency Bosch boiler, Benjamin Moore interior paint, chimney repointing, restored wood burning FP and chimney cap, sunroom roof, repaired/replaced concrete steps, slate roof is monitored and checked twice a year, and updated electrical.
Both rentals have had pets and allow pets.
