July-August sublet in a sunny south-facing second-floor apartment in a lovely Brooklyn brownstone in the heart of Bed-Stuy! (close to Tompkins & Halsey)
I’ll be away this summer and looking to sublet my gem of an apartment. It’s the second floor of a privately-owned brownstone on a neighborly tree-lined block, with crown molding, large inset windows, and old fireplaces. The back windows face the garden, which has a four-story pear tree, grape arbor, and rose bush — lots of bird singing and greenery in the middle of the city.
Large living room and kitchen, large separate bedroom, and a sweet small office facing the back garden, perfect for working/writing. My landlords are interior decorators, so the entrance and the space is welcoming and warm. Great apartment for one person or for a couple. LGBTQ+ friendly.
The apartment will be fully furnished, but I’ll clear space for your things and for you to work. Wifi included, AC unit in the back bedroom, full kitchen for your use, one bath with shower and tub. All utilities included with monthly rate. No laundry on site, but laundromat three blocks away with drop off and delivery service.
In the heart of the Tompkins Ave business district, with great cafes, indie bookstores, bars, and restaurants nearby, and Citibike stations down the block. Closest subway is the express A train at Nostrand Ave or the local C at Kingston-Throop. Easy walk to Herbert Von King park for sunbathing and picnics.
My kind landlords live in the garden apartment and use the fourth floor used as an office for their business, so I am the only tenant; the main floor is rented out as a high-end AirBnB, so it is very quiet for a New York apartment building. The landlords have one cat who lives downstairs but roams the halls; my cat will be traveling with me.
Looking for a kind and respectful subletter in their 30s or older, or a couple — ideally, someone working on a writing or art project of some kind. Hoping to find a subletter for all of July and August, but I have some flexibility about dates!
I’m a writer, editor, and teacher in my 40s, and a longtime New Yorker (use she/her pronouns). I’ve been a renter here for almost two years, after many years in the adjacent neighborhood of Crown Heights, and it’s been a wonderful place to land, perfect for writing and creative work of all kinds.
Renter
$3250/month, half to be paid on sublet booking, half to be paid when sublet begins. If the dates are a bit over or a bit under a month, I’m happy to agree on pro-rated rates. All utilities included in the cost.
I’d like to do an in-person or Zoom interview with possible subletters.
