This large 1100 Sq ft apartment in a 1927 prewar brick building is in the lovely leafy Ditmas Park area of Brooklyn, convenient to the city and other parts of Brooklyn. Apartment has beautiful hardwood floors throughout, lots of light, and minimally furnished, situated on the 2nd floor of a well kept elevator building. Queen size Ikea platform bed ( four drawers underneath), clothing rack, and hallway closet by the large bedroom are available. Another room acts as office/ workspace with large work-table, shelving, lighting, chairs, etc and a fully equipped sit-in kitchen; living room has studio couch, dining large table, book-shelves, etc. Full tiled bath, ceiling fans, excellent heat and hot water / water pressure, high ceilings make this apartment feel extremely spacious and loft like. Apartment is just two blocks to the Newkirk Plaza B & Q train, and just a quick three block walk up gorgeous Sycamore lined streets to the busy Cortelyou Road, for shopping, food coop, farmers market, bars, library, and great restaurants. Also amenities close by such as Foodtown, liquor stores, post office and laundromats. Building does not have any laundry facilities, but great drop off service exists a block away and multiple do it yourself spaces.
While this apartment is a temporary sublet perfect for a visiting professor or someone in-between apartments, I am offering it also as a mini temp share, while I visit the city once a month, staying in the main living room space set off from the rest of the apartment. I am in and out, quiet and easy going— often when in the space working and pre-occupied. Its a perfect basic share space situation with reduced rent for this huge apartment, while I continue to frequent the city from where I teach upstate once a month. I rarely visit the city in the summer.
I am seeking a single occupant, no pets or smoking. Prefer someone who is super clean and tidy and respectful of my belongings; good communicator. Rent includes all utilities including high speed internet; some linens provided. A six month commitment is preferable with potential to stay on a bit longer and somewhat flexible with ending date. References, proof of income, first month and security deposit is required. More photos or walk thru FaceTme are possible. If we proceed we can do a FaceTime or Zoom meeting or possibly in person while I am in town.
I am a full time professor at a college in upstate, teaching art and design and like to return to my apartment on occasion to visit friends, see art, museums, galleries etc. Brooklyn has been my home for over 25 years. When I am in the apartment I am often busy working and researching, reading and mostly out seeing friends, events, etc. While in the space I cook minimally so much of the time is in the other half of the apartment. I love to travel and often do so in the summer, therefore not using the apartment at all then. I have been subletting the apartment with single occupant roommates, and it has worked out well. My pronouns: she/her.
