My partner and I will be away this summer for a language intensive and we are looking for 1-2 responsible people to sublet our sweet little casita in Highland Park.
The space is perfect for an individual or a couple. It has one bedroom and one full bath. Additionally, there is one big office/reading room and a laundry room that I’ve converted into another small office. It has lots of original built-ins and details from when it was first built in the 1920’s, including a big mantel. It has a really sweet little back patio tricked out with seating and lights. We are totally fine with people smoking back there :-) The kitchen is fully stocked. There are two AC units, lots of natural light, a little community garden in the back of the property that you could get involved in if you so desire, in-unit washer/dryer, a tub for baths, a TV, and a projector.
The property is located in a historic bungalow court and is a free-standing house on three sides. The garden in the center is landscaped weekly and is filled with beautiful plants and flowers. There are stairs leading up to the property, so it is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. The unit doesn’t come with dedicated parking, however this neighborhood is truly incredible when it comes to street parking.
Highland Park is super walkable and bikeable. The unit is located walking distance to both York, Figueroa, and countless bars, cafes, and restaurants. We are just a few minutes walking to the Highland Park metro station, where the A-line will bring you to Chinatown and DTLA super quickly! You can also connect at Union Station to other metro lines, the metrolink, and Amtrak. We picked out this location because it is uniquely transit-friendly in a city dedicated to cars, but it also just a short drive from everything that is fun & happening in Los Angeles.
The dates are June 1-August 31; the rent per month is $2700. The dates are flexible, so let us know what works best for you!
Interested? Send us some info about yourself & what you’ll be up to while you’re here in Los Angeles!
We are both grad students; my partner is working towards his PhD in comparative literature and I’m pursuing an MLIS to become a librarian. (As you can imagine, our house is filled with books, lol.) We’ve lived in Southern California for almost three years.

We will request a small security deposit to cover any potential damages to the property.
