Hello!
Come hang out for the summer in a beautiful brownstone in Crown Heights.
We’re seven roommates spread across a full four-story house with a proper backyard (garden with a deck and bbq), two kitchens, a massive living room, reading room, washer/dryer, 4 full bathrooms, and a basement for storage. The house was built in 1899 and the details are still there -- crown molding, funky flourishes, wood panels, stained glass.
We live semi-communally, as in: friendly vibes, a house meeting every three weeks, light dedicated chores and some communal items like a cleaner for common spaces. We host the occasional event and are engaged in each other’s lives, but there’s also no pressure to engage. Given how big the house is, people regularly hole up and it’s not not very busy.
One caveat: This renter will hop between three different rooms throughout the summer (one month in each room), as different people will be out of town. Every room is furnished, but for this reason I’ve posted various rooms. Each room is beautiful, full of light and very spacious.
The neighborhood is wonderful and tree-lined. We're near Franklin ave, full of coffeeshops and bars, and a few blocks from a grocery store. 5 minutes from the A/C, 10 minutes from the 2/3/4/5, and especially accessible by bike.
Current roommates include: two podcast producers, an urban planner, two people who manage a camp for kids, a therapist, and someone in advertising. We’re all late twenties/early thirties, live active lives and generally balance community with curiosity; sometimes we have some friends over but it's not a party house.
We're looking for someone who is friendly, sociable, curious, enjoys hanging out as well as their independence. And is open to living a bit more collectively (but not all the way -- we do buy our own groceries).
Tenant
Rent is $1610. Please email me about yourself -- who you are, what you do, what you like and what interests you about the room. We'll video chat and if it feels like a good fit, you can come by to see the place & meet some of the roommates.
Ok with cats but not dogs...unless they're extremely small and don't make any noise, ie cat-dogs
