Beautiful 1930s railroad two bedroom with high ceilings, original details, and one bathroom in the heart of Ridgewood, Queens available from mid June - end of August. Dates can be slightly flexible, available to rent weekly, monthly or for the whole summer. Two separate entrances: the primary bedroom is accessible through the second bedroom or the landing area with keypad entry. The apartment has seven(ish) spaces total: primary bedroom and spare bedroom, which both have desks and workspaces, a living room with a comfortable, large couch that could also be used for sleeping, a creative workspace with an adjustable drawing and sewing table (unfortunately not pictured because still getting set up), a kitchen, readingt/coffee nook, and bathroom. The coffee nook gets cheerful morning light, and the primary bedroom catches sunset rays. The entire apartment is well lit during the day, apart from the spare bedroom which is in the very center of the railroad layout. The apartment is spacious and well-appointed with vintage décor, unique artwork, a cook’s kitchen, storage, and thoughtful touches for comfort. The (unfinished) rooftop is a lovely bonus – views of the neighborhood and across to Manhattan.
Walking distance to great food, coffee, social life, green space and shopping. Ask me for recommendations if you’re new to the neighborhood. Or, check out write ups in NY Times, Time Out, NY Mag, and more. Very short walk to the M train at Forest Avenue; longer walk to the L at Myrtle-Wyckoff, pleasant in good weather. Laundry across the street or a portable machine for light loads is available and can be used in the bathroom. No pets please.
I am an educator and Ph.D. student at the City University of New York. I study at the Graduate Center and I teach Geography at Hunter College and the School of Professional Studies. My work focuses on migrant (im)mobility and my current project centers around undocumented migrants, especially asylum seekers, in Mexico as well as migration policy, policing, and detention there. Because my work requires that I am away from the city for stretches of time, subletting the apartment makes this work and related activism possible.
I am originally from Northern California but have lived in New York for 14 years, after five years in Spain. Other than teaching and research, I like to cook, sew, experiment with creative writing and art, do yoga and bike around the city.
