Enjoy upstate urban living in this newly-renovated apartment in downtown Newburgh's historic district. Walking distance to shops, restaurants on Liberty St, Washington's Headquarters, Atlas Studio, Downing Park, and Newburgh Brewery.
The apartment:
Built in 1890 and recently renovated, this historic residence on Liberty Street holds classic details and modern finishes. The large 1 bedroom apartment features an open kitchen + living room with plenty of space for living and dining. Afternoon light fills this west facing space. Third floor.
The kitchen features new appliances, including a gas stove with griddle pan and large stainless steel fridge. A wall-mounted microwave, knife rack, and disk rack allow for more open space on the marbled granite countertops. Open shelf and deep cabinets provide options for storage and display of dishware. The bathroom is between the living room and bedroom and has a small skylight, new fixtures, mirrored medicine cabinet, and shower with glass door and light. White tile finishes create a bright, inviting space that is easy to clean.
The very large bedroom overlooks Liberty Street with a three part bay window and receives abundant morning light. Plenty of room for a queen or king size bed, armoire, dresser, and chairs, as well as a generous work space or extra hang out space. Historic details abound!
The entire apartment has newly refinished wide-plank pine floorboards for historic charm, and the common and entry spaces retain some original details.
Please note: A couple of the photos shown here (kitchen, bath) are of a different unit in the building. However the apartments are virtually identical- similar layout, same finishes, same renovation. I will have updated photos shortly.
Utilities + Infrastructure
Internet/cable, electric, heat/air conditioning (electric), and hot water (gas) are the responsibility of the tenant. The heating and A/C is a brand new high-efficiency electric heat pump system for lower heating costs and sustainability. There are wall mounted units in the bedroom and living room and a supplementary electric baseboard heater in the bathroom. All windows in the apartment are new and well insulated. Laundry provided in the common space of the building and price is included in the rent.
The Neighborhood
The Newburgh Historic District on Liberty street is a lively cultural destination with restaurants, bars, and historic sites minutes away. Two blocks down are restaurants The Wherehouse, Betty’s Snack Bar, Two Alice’s cafe and Ms. Fairfax. The house is steps from Audrey Carey Park, named after the first African American female mayor of a city in New York State. Other neighborhood destinations include the 35-acre Downing Park, designed by Olmsted and Vaux (of NYC's Central Park) and the Grand and Montgomery Street historic mansions in the style of Andrew Jackson Downing. Kayaking and access to the Hudson River is possible at the nearby Newburgh rowing club. Newburgh is centrally located and a short drive to countless upstate destinations, including Storm King, Dia Beacon, Bear Mountain, and local Snake Hill hiking trails.
I'm the owner of the building and a responsive and respectful landlord.
