Hey! I'm looking for a roommate to fill the second bedroom in my true 2 bed 2 bath apartment. Me and my current rommate have lived here for two years and love the apartment, but he is moving out of state for a PHD program.
The Building:
The apartment is on the top floor of a 3-story walk-up mixed-use building located by 5th Ave and 11th St in Park Slope. We know both of our very sweet neighbors who live below us. Every now and then we'll run into Kevin (our 2nd story neighbor's senior dog) in the hallway, which is always the highlight of our day.
The Bedroom:
The bedroom is roughly 13.5' x 7.5' and has a built-in closet. My roommate was able to fit an armoire (which he can leave behind if you want to keep it), a nightstand, and a queen-sized bed in his room. Both bedrooms are east-facing and get plenty of sunlight in the mornings! You will also have your own bathroom, which is in the hallway.
The Apartment:
My roommate and I have loved living here for the past 2 years! The living room is west-facing and gets plenty of sunlight in the evening, and you can catch some incredible sunsets. We have a view of Manhattan from our living room, which is a huge bonus. I love collecting mid-century modern furniture, so our living is mostly vintage furniture, which I love. Our kitchen isn't giant, but it has enough room to cook, especially with the island that we have. You'll have access to all the utensils/cooking equipment that we have. We also have a dishwasher and a full-size washer and dryer in our apartment, which is super convenient. We also have access to the rooftop!
Furnishing:
The bedroom will be unfurnished but my roommate would be willing to leave the armoire you see in the picture behind if you want! The rest of the apartment will be fully furnished so this apartment would be ideal for someone who doesn't have lots of furniture or things they need to bring with them. This includes all the furniture in the living room, kitchen utensils/pots/pans, etc. The only thing that my roommate might be taking is the island we have in the kitchen.
The Neighborhood:
I've loved living in Park Slope! It's a much more family-oriented neighborhood, but is still incredibly lively, especially on 5th Ave and 7th Ave. There are farmers' markets on the weekends, and tons of cafes all over. My favorite part of living here is that it's a straight shot to Prospect Park and is about a 15-minute walk.
We'd be a good fit if:
You also like a good balance of personal and hangout time! I would prefer to be friends with my roommate and be able to hang out. I'm more than okay with alone time, though, and do have a social battery. I'll be working from home 3-4 days a week, so I'm ideally looking for someone who works in person to give us both some personal time.
I'm not a clean freak, but I do like to keep the apartment tidy and "clean as you go". A few dishes in the sink are fine, but it'd be nice to have them in the dishwasher by the end of the next day. I typically clean over the weekends, so it'd be nice to have someone to share those responsibilities with.
It'd be nice to have someone around my age (mid 20's) but open to anyone who is responsible, clean, and nice! LGBTQIA+ friendly
Please let me know a bit about yourself in your message, and if you're on IG it'd be great if you wanna send your handle! Maybe we'll have a mutual you never know
Hey! I'm Chris (26M), and I've been living in this apartment for two years. I'm originally from Seattle but have lived in a few places before ending up here in New York. I'm currently a product designer and work from home 3-4 days a week.
My hobbies include bouldering, creating cyanotypes and other forms of art, hosting my radio show on Fridays, and pickleball with my current roommate!
