We are looking to sublet for the months of June and July at our apartment in Crown Heights.
There's a decent-sized bedroom that contains a queen-size bed, a big desk, two dressers, and some other shelving. The bedroom also has two closets, and if you want them both, we can clear both out for you.
The living room is pretty spacious. There is a wall-mounted ladder desk, another small desk where my partner does her painting, a couch, and a 55" TV. When we have people over for dinner (usually not more than three) we have a folding table that we put in the center of the living room, and it doesn't look fancy, but there's enough space to do it.
The kitchen is a separate room from the living room. Pretty small, but not unusual for New York. We have a motley assortment of pots and pans, an instant pot, toaster oven, microwave, electric kettle, dishes, and silverware. Knives, cutting boards, all the basic stuff.
The bathroom is small, nothing unusual about it.
The apartment is located on the second floor and there is no elevator. The front door does not open automatically.
We will be taking things with us and putting some others into storage, but we are looking for subletters who are okay with a very furnished apartment. Our books will stay on the bookshelves, for example. We're happy to discuss details about what kind of space you need, though.
The neighborhood is a lot of families, but we're also right on Nostrand which has a bunch of stores and restaurants, so that's close by.
Transportation is great - we are less than a five minute walk to two train stations: President Street (2 and 5) and Nostrand Ave (3 and sometimes 4). Very easy to get into Manhattan.
We're about a 15-minute walk from the Botanic Gardens and the Brooklyn Museum, and if you keep walking down Eastern Parkway from there for about ten minutes, you'll hit the big Brooklyn Public Library and the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park. It's a great place to be in the summer.
No dishwasher, no laundry. There's a small coin-operated laundry less than five minute walk away, and a number of others in the area. There are small grocery stores right nearby, and if we want cheaper prices, we just walk up Nostrand ten minutes or so to a bigger one.
We have two AC units.
Utilities (internet, gas, electricity) are $150/mo. This is a conservative estimate based on last year. The electricity draw from AC is obviously the variable here. If you go significantly under that, we'll refund you the difference. If you go significantly over, we'll ask you to cover the additional cost.
Please let us know if you have any questions!
We are two actors, Molly (she/her) and Wyndham (he/him) who cobble together a living through acting, painting, workshop-leading, and of course, waiting tables every now and then. We've lived in this apartment for a year and a half and we love it. We're leaving for the summer to a) get married and b) work out of state for a couple months.
One of us will show the space.
Current tenants
We will show the apartment this week and probably move quickly this weekend to draw up a sublease.
We will ask for first month's rent + utilities ($2650) plus a security deposit ($1000) to move in on June 1st, so $3650 total. Then the subletter will pay us for the second month + utilities ($2650) by July 1st. We will return the $1000 security deposit after moveout assuming there is no damage to the apartment.
