The Apartment
I am subletting my beautiful, cozy two-room studio on the ground floor of a prewar elevator building close to Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and steps from the B/Q trains. The apartment has a separate eat-in kitchen, hardwood floors, and closet space. It genuinely feels and flows like a one bedroom apartment.
My space is thoughtfully furnished and full of character. It is filled with books and original art and has a well-stocked kitchen (including cast iron cookware, an ice cream machine, and an espresso maker). There’s A/C in both the main living/sleeping area and the kitchen, fast internet throughout, a portable washer and a vacuum available. The apartment also includes a cello and a digital piano that you are welcome to play. Hardwood floors in living room and corridors, tiles in bathroom and kitchen.
One full closet will be cleared for your belongings. In terms of physical accessibility, it is on the first floor of the building and accessible via two sets of stairs (one in front of the building, one inside the building). The windows give onto a secured yard if you prefer to sleep with open windows rather than A/C.
This space is perfect for easy, peaceful living:
• Quiet neighbors, no roommates
• Fully furnished, including kitchen appliances
• Reliable central heating / cooling and hot water

I’m a professor and live in this apartment by myself. I will be doing archival research during the summer and am looking for someone to sublet my apartment. It’s a thoughtfully cared-for place, and I’m hoping to find a respectful tenant who will appreciate it.
I’ve had great experiences with previous subletters, and finding the right fit really matters to me. I want you to feel comfortable and at home during your stay, and I value a relationship that’s built on trust, clear communication, and mutual benefit.
1. We'll connect for a quick video call or in-person visit to get to know each other better. If we both feel good about moving forward, I'll ask you for references, proof of ID/ income and will prepare a sublet agreement for you to review.
2. We'll sign the agreement and you'll submit a $2250 security deposit (which I will be contractually obligated to return to you within 30 days of your departure and will put into an interest-bearing account) and first month's rent prior to move-in.
