Behind the List
We have some exciting news to share with our community today—Listings Project is officially B Corporation Certified! While this certification might be new, the values and practices it recognizes have been at our core from the very beginning.
If you’re new here, welcome! We are a global community offering free and equitable access to carefully vetted real estate and job opportunities. We’re so glad you’re here.
For over 20 years, our small, independent, woman-owned company has operated with a deep commitment to community, care, and connection. Becoming B Corp Certified affirms what’s long been true: we are, and have always been, a values-driven business rooted in equity, transparency, accountability, collective care, justice, and joy. Joining the B Corp community in 2025 means finding a home among others who share our vision for what a business can be.
“Becoming B Corp Certified is a formal recognition of what we've believed and practiced all along for over two decades. We've always approached real estate listings from a people -centered perspective, prioritizing care and community in an industry not historically known for either.” - Stephanie Diamond, Artist & Listings Project Founder
Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. The B stands for 'Benefit for All'—a commitment to creating a positive, lasting impact. Each company goes through a comprehensive assessment that looks deeply at how we serve our community, support our workers, and show up for our customers.
For Listings Project, becoming B Corp Certified meant carefully documenting the practices we've always believed in—from pay equity to community engagement. As we navigated rigorous B Corp assessment, we saw our values reflected back to us, a confirmation of the hard work we put in for the past 20 years. For us, becoming a B Corp was less about proving ourselves and more about finding our community—a group of businesses who believe, like we do, that care is the most radical business strategy there is.
Listings Project began as an email from Stephanie Diamond, artist and Listings Project founder, to help friends—especially fellow artists—find housing. Since 2003, we’ve stayed intentionally small, growing mostly through word of mouth, one listing at a time. Our mission has always been to connect people to spaces and to each other, cultivating an inclusive, vibrant community.
We’ve never really fit the mold of traditional real estate, because for us, it’s never been just about listings—it’s about supporting a community and providing equitable access to job and housing opportunities. Becoming B Corp certified puts us in community with other like-minded companies, moving toward a more just and caring world where businesses can be a force for communal good.
“Thank you for taking the time to read each listing. There's something reassuring about knowing real people vet the entries. I believe we're stronger as a community of creatives that way. Cheers.” – Susan, Listings Project Lister

What sets Listings Project apart—and what helped us excel in the B Corp certification process—is our unwavering prioritization of community. In our B Impact Assessment, our highest scores were in the Community category, closely followed by Customers and Workers. We're building a community where people can find spaces to live, work, and create in an atmosphere of mutual respect and collective care.
Central to our approach are our Community Agreements, which outline how we expect community members to engage with each other. These agreements foster a culture of respect, and build authentic relationships that make our company unique in the real estate space.
Unlike many listing services, we personally review every single listing before it appears on our platform. This vetting process ensures that each listing meets our standards for clarity, fairness, and inclusion. It's a labor-intensive approach, but it's essential to maintaining the trust and integrity of our community.

We practice what we call Collective Care—the idea that by supporting each other, we create stronger communities for everyone. This philosophy extends beyond our platform into concrete actions. Here are some of the ways we show up:
Community First: We center community in all of our decisions—it’s the foundation of how we work and who we are.
Housing Justice: We donate 1% of revenue annually to housing justice organizations.
Crisis Response: From the LA Wildfire Response Project to local emergency relief, we show up when our communities need us.
Celebration: We gather in joy through events like our 92Y roundtable, 20th anniversary celebration, and League of Kitchens Dinner.
Our commitment to care extends to our team. As a values-aligned company, we've built a positive workplace that prioritizes wellbeing alongside productivity:
Fully remote work with flexibility that honors work-life balance
Standardized pay equity practices that ensure fair compensation
Generous PTO policies that encourage wellness and self-care
Regular team-building activities that foster connection despite our distributed nature
Professional development opportunities that support both personal and professional growth
We believe a healthy team creates a healthy community. Caring is part of how we do business—everywhere.

Listings Project has always been intentional about our growth. Starting small and staying relatively small has allowed us to maintain the human touch that makes our community so special. Working initially with creatives and spreading through word of mouth, we've created something unique in the marketplace—a business that creates opportunities for all people to have equitable access to jobs and housing.
Becoming a B Corp doesn’t mean our work is done—it means we’re more accountable than ever! Through the certification process, we discovered new ways to measure our impact and set meaningful new goals for sustainable and scalable growth. We’re thrilled to be connected to a global network of businesses proving progress is possible when many contributors move in the same direction.
We’re proud to join this movement. But more than anything, we’re proud that we got here by doing what we’ve done for over 20 years: caring deeply, leading with values, and believing in the power of community.
