Light-filled, fully furnished bedroom and living room for rent in calm and convenient Kensington.
Hello everyone! I am seeking a subletter while I am on tour for 11 months from October 1-August 31st (flexible on length and start and end dates). You will be signing a sublease and subject to approval from my landlord, who lives in the unit above us. This is a calm and convenient neighborhood, 2 blocks from the F/G at Church Av, two 24-hour grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, convenience stores, and more.
More about the space: This is a duplex home, the apartment is the ground floor, and the landlord lives in the second unit upstairs. Her and her elderly mother are very caring and attentive to the unit’s needs without being overbearing or intrusive. I truly love living here. Entrance is though the back via a private porch. You will share the kitchen space, bathroom, porch, and storage space with the other tenant (my current roommate). The room you will rent comes fully furnished including dresser, side tables, lamps, bed, chair, couch, shelving, and curtains.
My roommate has private access to the two bedrooms in the apartment, meaning you will be occupying the front two rooms that once served as the living room and dining room. The rooms have their own door that lock from the inside, granting you privacy in that space and come full furnished as a bedroom and living room. Feel free to re-arrange the setup to your liking, and hang things on the wall as you please.
Who you will be living with: My current roommate, the other tenant, who you will be living with, is a full-time master’s student and very friendly and approachable man. He is my dear friend and a wonderful person. You two will work together to decide chores, etc, but generally he is neat and respectful of shared space.
Cost: Monthly rent will be $1,300 paid to me monthly via PayPal, Venmo, or bank transfer. You and the roommate will split utilities: internet and electricity. You will need to submit credit history and proof of income to the landlord to get approved to sign the sublease with me. Having these documents readily available will speed up our process of signing, should you be interested in doing so.
Contact me: Please reach out to me and let me know if you are interested in the place. Ideally we can meet in person or via FaceTime to talk about it and make sure it’s a good fit. If you like the space we will arrange a time for you to meet my current (your future) roommate, to ensure you feel comfortable living with him!
I am a professional musician who is going on tour, thus I am subletting the space.
Your roommate who you will live with is a 33 year old graduate student at Columbia. He is kind, considerate, and very friendly. He is open to being your friend or staying out of your way; whatever is best for you!
