Huge, sunny, two bedroom, one bathroom apartment in a fourplex at the intersection of Cypress Park, Mt. Washington, and Glassell Park. The apartment features in-unit washer/dryer, a dishwasher, large kitchen space, and a balcony where you can watch sunset every night! Out the back bedroom window are cypress trees and views of the hills. The apartment itself is incredibly spacious (1000 sq. feet) with good sound protection between the rooms. It's cozy, filled with books, art, records, and plants, and we are hoping to sublet to someone (or someones) who enjoys a thoughtfully-designed, creative home! There are some healthy, low-maintenance plants to water, for which I will leave instructions, and they only need watering 1x/wk.

As of now, the second bedroom is our living room/music studio, making this a perfect set-up for a couple or individual. If you’re a musician, we can discuss a set-up where you can make use of our studio space! That said, the couch is a pull-out and we are happy to invest in a mattress topper if that makes the difference for an interested duo.

Note: it’s on the second floor, so the light is beautiful, but you will have to walk up a flight of stairs to get in. The stairs are wide.

There is no parking included, but it is always easy on our street or the neighboring ones to find street parking.

Location: Cypress Park is a super cute and tight-knit neighborhood, with longstanding Mexican restaurants, taco stands and giant thrift stores, as well as fancy little cafes, restaurants, and markets. Our apartment is walking distance from grocery stores, several cafes and restaurants (including Loquot & Barra Santos), a pottery studio, and parks (Elyria Canyon and Rio de Los Angeles State Park). We’re at the base of Mt. Washington, so you can hike up the mountain without crossing any major streets (it’s one of my favorite activities at the end of my work day!).

It’s perfectly situated on the East Side: less than 10 minutes to Frogtown, Eagle Rock, and Glendale; 10 mins to Highland Park & Echo Park; 15 mins to DTLA, Silverlake, and Pasadena.

Dates are flexible! Utilities will be billed separately (and typically range from $100-200/month, depending on AC usage).

About This Lister

I’m a musician and grad student, getting my MSW from Smith College (which is where I will be this summer!). I’m originally from Western Massachusetts, though I have lived in Los Angeles for 4 years. I love to read, write, hike, make art, and cook (so our kitchen is stocked with appliances and our shelves are stocked with books).

My partner is a full-time music producer, originally from New Jersey, but has lived in LA for the last 6 years. He also loves to read, though he tends towards non-fiction while I read fiction and memoirs (so you can take your pick and we’ll discuss later).
