True 3 bedroom apartment! 1300 square feet with 12 foot ceilings in an authentic artist loft building (with elevator) in Downtown Brooklyn. We are considering a work opportunity that would take us away from the city for 12-18 months, but we are unwilling to give up our home. We need some good tenants to love and care for our space while we are away.
Our building is absolute magic. It’s also truly an old school loft building with all of the quirks that come with it. In our opinion, the pros outweigh the cons, but it comes with both – so make sure these are ok with you too.
PROS:
Incredible community. Many residents have been here for 10 or 20 years + and if you want to, you can connect with many wonderful artists, architects and designers and musicians who call our building home.
A magical garden on the rooftop with a dog friendly section
Big space with big open ceilings that feels like such a respite in a city that can feel so cramped
A wonderful building staff that look after our home and feel like family
Convenient location: Less than a 10 minute walk to Wegman’s, Trader Joe’s and Target. 15 minute walk to the heart of Dumbo, Fort Greene, Brooklyn Heights and Boerum Hill neighborhoods. 10 minute drive or 20 minute subway trip to lower Manhattan. We are within a 6-10 minute walk from all of the following trains: Q, R, B, A, C, F, 5, 4, 2, and 3.
CONS:
Old building – means we are not very energy efficient (your utilities are included) and all of the magical windows can be a bit drafty in the winter. Each room has its own heating system and we don’t find this to be a problem, but you have to be mindful to turn them on and off.
Busy corner – while we enjoy many conveniences based on our location, we are also right near two major roads, a fire station and a police station, which means our little corner of NYC can feel hectic and is often loud. We have sound machines in all of our bedrooms, and with those we sleep soundly here – as does our 9 month old daughter and our 9 year old pup. We have a lot of out of town guests, as we are not from here originally, and they often express surprise at how well they slept and how effective the sound machines are, but if you are not used to city noise - this may not be the home for you.
THE SPACE:
Kitchen – fully equipped including an espresso/coffee machine
Living Room / Dining Room – 75” Samsung Smart TV, Sonos surround sound, record player, furnished with vintage dining set, Anabei sofa and West Elm rug
Primary Bedroom – Queen bed less than one year old - Helix Twilight Luxe - Includes GlacioTex™ Cooling Cover, CB2 dresser, vintage headboard
 - PAX Ikea closet system on the wall to the left headed to the ½ bath off of the primary
 - Walk-in closet to the right also has a Pax closet system + hanging rods, as well as a small chair and side table used for work calls. The wall dividing the closet/office from the rest of the apt has extra sound proofing, making this an excellent space for WFH.
Second Bedroom – West Elm dresser and armoire set with space for a full size bed to fit comfortably. This is set up as our daughter’s nursery but we plan to take the crib and rocking chair with us when we leave. We often set up a full mattress in the room with our daughter when we have visitors and it fits along with all the current furniture.
Third Bedroom – We currently use this space as an office/guest room. It has a Peloton that we are happy to leave for renters, and a full size bed that is easily taken down for additional space.

Bathrooms – Please review the floor plan, as this set up is unusual. We have one full size bathroom with a good amount of storage under the sink and in the large medicine cabinet. The toilet is fitted with a brondell bidet. There is also a ½ bath accessible from the primary bedroom and a second shower that is accessible from the entry hall. This shower room has a small sink and a walk-in shower. We have our daughter’s bathtub set up in this bathroom and have found it to work really well for our family, but we know it’s a bit strange – it’s a relic from an earlier layout of the apartment. It works great for roommates!
Long term tenants looking to maintain our home while we are away for a work opportunity. My partner and I live in this apartment with our baby and dog. We love our neighbors - they are truly what makes this building so magical. It is really important to us that anyone who stays in our space is kind and considerate and contributes to the positive energy in our community.
