Hello.
I'll be away on a fellowship for a few months and am looking to sublet my apartment. I'm hoping to rent the apartment to one person for the entire 4 months, though I'm open to shorter rentals of at least one month.
The space:
It's a two bedroom, one bathroom apartment that is up one flight of stairs. I've turned one bedroom into my office/workspace, so it really functions as a one bedroom. The living room is large, facing the street, and gets good light. There are hard wood floors, a full kitchen, and a lot of plants. I don't have a tv. I'm an artist and have a lot of my artwork and supplies in the apartment.
The neighborhood:
My place is located in Bed Stuy. The block is a mix of old buildings and new buildings. There's a cute bar on the corner, and a few coffee shops nearby that I like to work in. There's a grocery store a block away. The C train is a ten minute walk away, the G train is a 15 minute walk, and the J train is an 18 minute walk. Tompkins Ave is a block away with restaurants and such.
The details:
My landlord and her family live right below me. The one thing about this apartment is that the floors are thin. I can hear them, and I'm sure they can hear me. I play music pretty much all of the time at a reasonable level. Other than that, I'm a pretty quiet person. I'm looking for a subletter who is also fairly quiet as to keep the noise level between apartments consistent.
The rent includes utilities.
I'd like someone who is clean, mature, and chill.
No pets.
Because it is essentially a one bedroom, I'm looking to rent to only one person at a time.
Black, brown, queer people are encouraged.
I'm an artist and author. I've lived here for a few years and love this apartment.
I'll require a security deposit equal to half of one months rent ($1200) plus the first months rent to move in.
I'll supply a sublet agreement.
