Hello! My partner and I are moving in together, and I am looking for someone to sublet my room through the end of my current lease (May 31st). My roommate is renewing the lease, so if it's a good fit there's potential for longer term.
I have a king-sized bedroom (16' x 10'11") in our 900 square ft, 3-bedroom/1-bathroom apartment.
Details & Amenities
- 3-bedroom, 1-bath apartment
- Apartment is shared with one roommate (VO artist, primarily works from home). Her bedroom is on the opposite side of the apartment.
- King-sized bedroom, a big common space, and an office/self-taping studio.
- *Semi-furnished: I will be leaving my queen sized bed, but moving out basically the rest of my furniture, so my room will be pretty spare! Let me know if you have any questions.
- 2nd floor of an elevator building
- Superintendent lives in the building
- Verizon Fios (1 GB high speed WiFi)
- Dishwasher in-unit
- Laundry in the basement.
- Lovely light, especially afternoons in the bedroom.
- Apartment is shared with one roommate (she’s awesome—VO artist, works in and out of the house)
- 10-minute walk to the river on the west side
- Big grocery store (2 floors! what!) one block away
- Generally very quiet block
- 5 minute walk to the 1 train at 157th Street, 7 minute walk to the C train at 163rd Street, 10 minute walk to the AC & 1 trains at 168th Street
- $1300 monthly (includes utilities, will prorate based on duration of stay)
- We use the third bedroom as an office/self-taping studio. My roommate is a VO artist and will often record in the office closet.
- No pets
Looking for a clean and respectful roommate! The ideal person will be friendly and courteous to my roommate (though no pressure or expectation to hang out), and will easily follow our pretty-relaxed roommate/community guidelines, such as: keeping generally clean and tidy, being respectful of each other, keeping reasonable volumes (especially if roommate is recording VO), being considerate of the home ie taking trash/recycling/compost down to the basement if it's full, etc. Basically just hope that you are a considerate person who is easy to share space with!
Thanks so much,
MG
Hello!
My name is MG, and I use they/them pronouns. I'm moving to Brooklyn and very sad to be leaving this wonderful home. My roommate and I have lived in this apartment for over 4 years and we love it. We work to keep the apartment clean, and are also understanding about messiness or clutter.
My roommate is a VO artist. She is lovely, kind, and hilarious. She also works a lot, so if she's in work mode you might not see her as much or have as many interactions. As two busy artists, we often will go a week or two with brief "hi!/bye!" exchanges, and then might randomly have a two hour chat in the kitchen at 11 pm one night. It's an introvert-friendly home :)
Our super lives in the building and is lovely. I handle communication with our management and utilities providers, and am happy to continue doing so long distance.
Please note: we have a TV in the living room, but simply have never plugged it in. Neither of us are huge TV people, and we both just watch things on our laptops usually. So in case that's a dealbreaker, there technically *is* a TV...but you'll probably need to be the one leading the plug-it-in-and-turn-it-on charge.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
MG
My roommate and I require a video call with prospective subletters as a courtesy to the one who will be living with them (this doubles as a chance for you to take a video tour).
If you live in NY, we can discuss viewing the space in person.
You will be paying rent directly to me, ideally via Zelle or Venmo.
$500 security deposit due upon agreement, I'll figure out a payment schedule through May.
