I live in a spacious two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment on the entire first floor of a beautiful, Victorian home with an incredible location in Beacon. I am looking to rent one of the two available bedrooms (either the larger or smaller one) from Sept 25 - Dec 31 (or for a minimum of 1 month at a time during that time period. Shorter stays are possible with adjusted rent.) The smaller bedroom rents for $1400/mo and the larger bedroom rents for $1650/mo - all utilities, wifi, one parking space, hand soap, dish soap, TP, paper towel, clean towels and sheets (if needed), and cleaning fee, are included.
The apartment is a 7-10 minute walk from Main St in Beacon (shops, restaurants, groceries, bars), a 12-15min walk from Metro North Train Station, and about a 15 minute walk to the Hudson River. The place is located in an incredibly walkable location so you don't need a car to stay here and there are ubers/lyfts or rental car options nearby for longer trips.
Room 1 (smaller room, $1400): has a full-sized bed, a chandelier, two closet spaces, bedside stand with lamp, electrical outlets, body-length mirror, and a lovely blue Persian rug. You are right next to the bathroom in the back of the apartment and have a good amount of privacy (the only reason I would go back into that area is to use the bathroom). The room is very well lit (beautiful in the morning) and has a view of the backyard. Deer come by often.
Room 2 (larger room, $1650): has a full-sized bed, chandelier, two large closets, incredible light with three large windows, 1 body-length mirror, electrical outlets, other furniture pieces as requested. In addition to basic items, I can also place a couch or floor cushions, additional mirror, table, storage cubes/shelves, plants, in the room as desired. There is a lot of space in this room and so you can easily set up a desk for work or an additional seating area for lounging.
The apartment: is a very well-loved space with artwork, plants, hardwood floors, lots of light and a wrap-around porch and front and back yards. The backyard is very spacious and good for picnics and hanging. There are two living rooms: one is more of a parlor and the other is my office during the day and an open TV or hang space in the evenings. The kitchen is small but fully stocked - pots, pans, slow cooker, ninja blender, stovetop espresso/coffee maker, pourover (with scale), all the utensils, plates, kettle, cutting boards etc. It has a ceiling fan and vent. The bathroom is a sweet, pink-tiled space with a bathtub. There is plenty of room for your things in shelves and cubby's.
In terms of accessibility - the space is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. There are about five steps required to get up the porch. Beyond that, my dining tables are modular and on the floor, so - though I enjoy floor-seating - I understand it might not be fully comfortable for all body-types. I keep the space clean and tidy. I don't leave dishes in the sink overnight, I wipe down the counters at the end of the day, I do a deep clean (vacuum, dust, clean bathroom) of the place about once a week and I tend to keep the common spaces clean/clear even when I'm living alone. I request that you also clean after yourself regularly, keep the same standards around kitchen use and keep common areas generally clear of extra items when you're done using them (i.e. put your things away at the end of the day). I put a lot of love into the space and am grateful and excited to host others who enjoy this style of living.
The neighborhood is quiet and walkable - very close to all of Beacon's amenities and nature but on a quieter tucked away street which is a huge perk.
Me/roommate things: I keep a pretty chill/calming environment that I try to infuse with sweetness and care. I am in my mid-thirties, I own a small creative business and my primary studio/office space is at home (in one of the living rooms which has sliding doors so that when I'm working you can still use the other living room.) During the work-day, I might be working on music which could involve guitar, drums or singing for about an hour a day. Though mostly, I usually work quietly in headphones. I don't work on music in the evenings out of respect to neighbors. I cook, I meditate, exercise, and do yoga and hike. I usually wind-down in my room around 9p. I don't throw parties here though I will occasionally have guests over for small dinners or hangs. I value open, kind, transparent communication, respect boundaries and will make every effort to make sure you feel at home while you're here. I have found that creatives, or professionals working remotely have really enjoyed staying here either to get away from the city for a month or two or to explore the area for longer term living.
Requests for you: you're a chill, mature, emotionally intelligent, good communicator who is light-hearted and brings quality care/good vibes to the spaces you enter. You have stable income or are easily able to pay rent on time. You are able to be respectful of the general working vibes during weekday work hours. You value a clean/cared for home space and feel comfortable enjoying it (i.e. you are truly welcome to make yourself at home and don't have to hide out in your room). You've had roommates before who loved living with you. You are comfortable doing your own thing and sharing space.
Other notes: it is a bummer but I don't have a dishwasher or in-unit laundry. For this reason, I ask that folks generally do dishes as they go or at very least wash dishes by end of night to avoid pile up. I can tell you where I do my laundry and there are also laundry pick up services that I can recommend. I may occasionally host a friendly, small dog in the space. I cannot accommodate pets for long-term stays. If you have a small dog and are staying short-term, I am open to that with an additional pet fee.
*Utilities, high speed Wi-Fi are included in rent price as are TP, dish/hand soaps, paper towels, your room furniture as well as access to all the amenities mentioned above.
I'll be doing video/phone tours first and if it feels like a good fit for both of us I'm happy to move forward and/or you can come check out the space if needed.
