Position Overview: We are recruiting and developing a team of experienced behavioral interventionists, with a BCBA at the helm, to provide continuous support for an Autistic individual who has significant behavioral outbursts. The individual requires 24/7 support, so the team will consist of staff who can communicate and rotate with one another. As a live-in behaviorist, you will reside with the client, offering daily structure and guidance while implementing behavior management strategies to maintain a safe and positive environment.
About the client: Client is 23 years old. She is an energetic, active young woman and benefits from structured activities throughout the day. She is sensitive to noise, and struggles remaining regulated when something sets her off. She requires regular behavioral intervention when she gets emotionally and physically dysregulated.
Job Responsibilities:
-Implement behavior management strategies to prevent or de-escalate client outbursts, using approved techniques such as verbal de-escalation, redirection, and structured activities, as well as approved physical interventions*
-Maintain a consistent daily schedule for the client, incorporating designated downtime and breaks as needed, while minimizing potential triggers for behavioral episodes
-Collaborate and communicate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including other behaviorists, to share notes, strategies, and observations, ensuring cohesive and effective support for the individual
-Administer prescribed medications to the client as directed, following all relevant protocols and documentation procedures to ensure accuracy and safety
Hours:
-Hours will be shared across the team broken into shifts (the client needs 24 hour support)
Job Requirements:
-Required: Prior work experience with individuals with special needs/autism and/or challenging behaviors
-Required: At least 1 year of practical experience in the field
-Required: Ability and willingness to implement behavior intervention plans that may include the use of safe and approved physical interventions as outlined in individualized support plans, following all ethical guidelines and training protocols*
-Preferred: Certification in RBT and/or BCBA **
-Preferred: Training or certification in behavior management and de-escalation techniques
Pay:
-$25-$30/hour for applicants without certification
-$30-$40/hour for applicants with RBT certification
-$40-$50/hour for applicants with BCBA certification
* Professional Crisis Management Association training provided
** Opportunity to earn hours towards BCBA certification and/or Psychological Licensing
Future Centered Care provides wrap-around case management services for the clients they work with. This includes: finding and training staff, identifying potential volunteer/internship/job opportunities, supporting clients in the home and out in the community, working collaboratively with client’s circle of support and partnering with families wherever support is needed.
