Seeking a housemate to join our lovely 4.5-BR, 3-story brownstone right at the nexus of Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy for a flexible move-in any time the first week of March. The sublease will run through Aug 31, with possibility of renewal.

This is a BIG bedroom—14'10"x14'5" —with hardwood flooring, two huge windows with folding wooden shutters, one regular closet and one extra large closet with shelving and two clothing racks, and a marble fireplace mantel (alas, no longer functional). It’s on the third floor with a bathroom (shared with one other housemate) that has three storage cabinets and a washer and dryer. Also on the third floor is a small office room that may be used as an occasional pied a terre by the housemates that are moving out.

Housemates are all women in their early 30s and creatively oriented, working across media, design, theater, and non-profit, with a combo of remote + hybrid work. The apartment is a happy, treasured space. Occasionally we’ll cook together, share food, watch movies in the living room. The communal spaces are mostly empty during the day since everyone is in and out.

The apartment was made for hosting—we’ve hosted a few GroupMuse concerts in the past, and some communal holiday parties, while as individuals we'll sometimes host dinners and just generally have friends stopping by. The rooms are huge and the brownstone is big, so there’s plenty of space to have your own solitude and privacy.

The house is pretty well maintained and the landlord tends to be responsive, although he’ll occasionally require a follow up. That said it’s a (gorgeous) old home, which means intricate original ceiling moldings, beautiful solid wood doors, stunning metal work and floors - but occasional issues like door knobs that stick or loose hinges that we mostly DIY fix ourselves.

The house includes:
- In-unit washer/dryer
- Deck with heater and patio futrniture and lush backyard with a fire pit
- Gorgeous, spacious kitchen (with dishwasher)
- Extra storage space below the stairs and in large bathroom cabinets

This person should:
- Be down for communal living
- Be okay with 11 pm quiet hours on weeknights
- Be responsible, mindful of others, and clean up after themselves

Neighborhood:
- Right on the Franklin C, Nostrand A, and S shuttle, as well as the B52 and B26 bus lines
- Right by several bodegas and grocery stores, coffee shops, and restaurants
- We’re on a quieter side street in a very walkable area

Other:
- If you have non-bedroom furniture, we're doing some shuffling in the common spaces and there may be room for it
- Cats accepted on a case-by-case basis

About This Lister

My name is Abi and my girlfriend Rose and I were sharing the room that’s available. Rose is going to grad school in another city otherwise we wouldn’t be leaving. I’ve lived in NYC for 12 years and this is far and away the most beautiful and well equipped home I’ve ever lived in. We have really loved living here and are hoping to find someone who’s a good match to take our place.

The three other housemates you’d be living with, Tao Tao, Zoe, and Áine, are all women in their early 30s and creatively oriented, working across media, design, theater, and non-profit, with a combo of remote + hybrid work. We all enjoy the community and camaraderie of living together but also having our own space and quiet.
