Hello! I'm looking for a roommate to share my Bed Stuy apartment. Open to short or long term.

The apartment is a 3 bedroom split between two people with the third room used as a shared office / extra room. I've lived here for over 5 years and find it very special. It's a beautiful, relaxing place to be.

7 blocks from Kingston Throop C, near B43/B52/B26. 6 blocks from Herbert Von King Park.

The bedroom—
It's a bright and peaceful room (unfurnished), measuring approx. 8'x10', with one south-facing window with shutters, a decently sized closet, and a mini split AC.

The apartment—
Floor through 3rd floor of a brownstone (stoop + one more flight inside). The front door enters into the main living space and open kitchen with lots of storage, a dishwasher, and a large island for plenty of workspace. The living room gets great natural light with views of the beautiful trees on the street. Your bedroom opens onto this area.

There is a half bathroom down the hall, plus a shared full bath with a shower & deep tub. At the back of the apartment is the office (I didn't include a photo here, but I can share pics!) and my bedroom. Through the office is a large deck with plants and a table/chairs. Bedrooms are on opposite ends of the apartment, so there is lots of privacy. Street noise is pretty minimal. The building has shared coin laundry in the basement.

What I'm looking for—
My home is very important to me and I spend a lot of my time here. I'm hoping to find someone with a living style that's similar to mine who values a quiet, calming space to rest. I like being open and friendly with the person I'm living with, while also giving each other plenty of space. Being attentive to cleaning/tidying/maintenance of the home we share is important, thoughtfulness and ease in communication is too.

I'll have a friend or two over sometimes and am happy for you to do the same. I don't like to have large gatherings or parties in the apartment, except for special occasions. I love animals, but I'd prefer not to have any pets here at the moment.

I'd love to live with another queer person.

Please reach out with a bit about yourself, how you like to spend time at home, and what you're looking for your next living situation. Thanks for reading :-)

About This Lister

Hannah (they/them) — 30, queer, trans masc

I've lived in Bed Stuy for 12 years. I work on exhibitions and artists' book publishing at a nonprofit arts organization. I work from home ~2 days of the week and am at the office otherwise. I'm also a graphic designer and design books sometimes.

I like to collect antique objects and furniture, spend time in nature, eat good food, and beachcomb. I'm excited to tend to a bunch of plants on the porch this summer : )

I personally still take precautions to avoid COVID infection (masking at large events, on public transportation) as a person with chronic health issues. I would want to live with someone who is receptive to this or is cautious themselves, and is comfortable with proactive communication around illness and exposure.

First month's rent (can be prorated depending on move in date) plus security deposit (half of rent / $950).

Utilities (wifi, electric/heating, gas) are split between us both, and average $150, but can be higher in winter and summer due to AC.

I'm the sole tenant on the lease but we can have a written agreement between us if preferred.
