Hey Listers!
I have a room available in a three bedroom apartment in East Harlem starting March 1st. I am renewing the lease and looking for a tenant to sign on - ideally long term - although subletting and shorter terms are an option once the lease is signed.
The room is $1,291 per month. Utilities are included, and our only bill is internet at $33 per person. The new lease does not require a security deposit!
The apartment is lovely and bright with huge eastern windows, tons of storage space, and an amazing view! The room easily fits a queen bed, desk space, and more. Past roommates have had desk and bed setups fit with room to spare.
The apartment includes 1.5 bathrooms (no waiting to brush your teeth!), a huge living/dining room, and a huge kitchen. As an added bonus, we also have a dishwasher, big walk-in pantry with lots of storage, and a coat closet.
It's super easy to get anywhere from here. We're close to both the 6 and 2/3 lines, with the A/B/C lines across the park. For reverse commuters and day trips, we're also close to MetroNorth 125th Station. All of Museum Mile is easily walkable, and we're literally right across from Central Park, ideal for walks, runners, and picnics!
The building has a security guard, laundry in the "sister" building next door, a gym, a lounge area (for WFH use), Amazon package receiving, and an on-site office staffed by the landlord and a live-in super. There are secure mail containers for packages.
We’re a couple who live in two of the rooms. I’m a mid30s queer man who has worked in museums and the NYC fine arts industry for a decade, and she is an academic getting into the therapy field. We’re both historians who have lived in Harlem for most of our time and love the community here. We love art, design, and antiques, so we're always looking for something to elevate the space, be it vintage glassware, antique pottery, or something for the bar cart.
I typically work full-time in office, so when we’re home we tend to keep things low key. We love cooking, playing music, reading, and entertaining, but the apartment is really a quiet retreat for us to relax after work. We enjoy a mature, clean, peaceful, apartment vibe and am looking for similar-minded, mature folks who value the space and take care of it.
We're friendly and happy to chat around the kitchen table, share a drink, or watch a movie together but definitely respect that sometimes you need to just unwind after a long day! Glad to discuss details and all of the above soon!
Since we're renewing the lease, tenants will have to be approved through the building. Since it's former public housing, they request a bit more than usual, but the process has always been easy in the past, with quick approval and little problems.
They request:
- Online application
- Bank Statement
- ID/ Visa
- Proof of Income
- 2 Recent Paystubs
