Hello! I'm subletting my bright and beautiful 1.5-bedroom apartment in Bed Stuy. It's a quiet oasis on a full floor of a lovely brownstone—meaning two exposures and lots of natural light all day. I've lived here for four years and love it, and I'm sure you will too! It's a charming, 100+ year old brownstone with old bones, but is well appointed with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture, a lovely stoop with my mini-garden, and cozy decor. I love this apartment very much and am hoping to find someone who will enjoy it and care for it in my absence--happy to be flexible on specifics to find the right person.

The location is about two blocks from Herbert Von King, and a 8 minute walk to the J. The Myrtle JMZ is just a bit further away, and the G is a 15 minute walk away. The B38 is right in front of the building, too. It's conveniently right across the street from a grocery store and catty corner to a laundromat with affordable drop off service.

It's located on a leafy tree-lined street in a vibrant neighborhood with very kind older neighbors, and a real sesame street feel to it. A really great coffee shop, Botani, is just a block away, and you're close to the hubbub of the Myrtle JMZ/Bushwick but can easily leave it and walk to this quiet corner of Bed Stuy. Not far from staples like Turtles, Saraghina, Coyote Club, Frog, Little Grenjai, and so much more. I love, love, love this neighborhood and would be more than happy to make suggestions if you're here for an extended visit!

Being that I'm away on a sabbatical, my dates are pretty flexible and I'm happy to accommodate your schedule. Ideally I'm looking for someone to sublet from somewhere from three to six months—with preference towards longer, but can be flexible with the right person. I'm planning to be away from ~October through ~March, so you can have your pick of dates. I have a great relationship with my landlord and he's very responsive to any issues, he doesn't live far and you'll be in touch with him directly during your stay.

I'll be leaving all my furniture, but will clear out my dresser and some closets for you to use during your stay. This is technically a 1.5 bedroom, but I'll be using the half room to store things so they are out of your way during your stay. If you'd like to bring small furniture I'm happy to move some things in there to make space, or you're welcome to store things there too.

About This Lister

I'm a non-profit professional taking a sabbatical to spend some time at home in Indonesia and recenter. Have lived in New York for the last 8 years after living in Seattle for a few before then, and in Indonesia for many more. Am a true New York head who came and fell in absolute love with every slimy and beautiful corner of the city, and look forward to one day in the (hopefully very distant) future being buried here, too. After a stressful career stint, am looking to pivot and take a much needed break to figure out what that looks like, and am excited to share my home while I'm away on my heroes journey.

Rental requirements

Will ask for social media for a vibe check, a friendly reference or two, and half month or a months rent as deposit, depending on the length of your stay. We'll also sign a standard sublease agreement. Would also love to FaceTime/Zoom to get to know each other and show the space before we decide on moving forward.

Utilities are included in rent. I will also cover cleaning before and after your stay.

Pets Policy

A quiet and respectful cat or pooch is welcome! Will ask for a small pet deposit if so, which I'll happily return if all is well at the end.
