About this Service

I help students from a variety of diverse backgrounds and unique goals put together a college application that maximally highlights their strengths. Whether your student has their sights set on a small liberal arts college, an Ivy League university, or an engineering school, I guide them through brainstorming and writing a stellar Common App essay and supplemental essays. Prior students have gained admission to Columbia, Brown, Stanford, and Yale, as well as top UCs, UMich, McGill, and more.

Graduate school application advising is also available for students applying to PhD programs, law school, medical school, and Master's programs. I help applicants tailor application materials and refine personal statements, guiding them through a process that can often be mystifying and intimidating. Graduate student clients have gained admission to Harvard Medical School, Yale School of the Environment, NYU Law School, and PhD programs at Columbia Engineering, among others.

I offer both one-time sessions and long-term collaborations that focus on building out an application from scratch (or wherever you may be in the process).

About this Lister

I'm a writing consultant, educator, and PhD candidate in English literature. My pedagogical approach focuses on holistically understanding every student's individual background, skills, and goals-- a practice I've developed through over six years of private tutoring, university teaching, and one-on-one writing consulting at both a university and high school level.

I've worked extensively in the college application space for three years and approach the process as one that demands both academic and emotional support; applying to college can be stressful, and I always focus on making sure my clients feel comfortable and confident.

A first-generation American, I grew up on the East Coast before moving to New York, later relocating to San Francisco for graduate school. Outside of teaching and research, I am a writer and translator. As I was the first in my family to attend university in the United States, I have a deep understanding of how complex the application process can be and am passionate about guiding others through it.

Above all else, I love helping students achieve the futures that they aspire to and imagine themselves in, be it as artists, academics, engineers, or simply as individuals who want to explore the world around them as much as possible.

Background and Expertise

I have over six years of teaching and tutoring experience, having taught in Stanford University's English department and worked as a writing consultant at the Hume Center for Writing. As a teacher and writing consultant, I've pursued ongoing additional training and professional development in the fields of writing, rhetoric, and composition instruction. I am pursuing a PhD in English with a minor in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Stanford University and hold a B.A. in English from Columbia University.

As a private tutor and college consultant, I have extensive experience tailoring my approach to the many different strengths that each student brings into our work together. I've worked with students across a variety of age groups (7-18), educational backgrounds (including ESL and first-generation, low-income students), and abilities. I have robust familiarity with the application process and individual university identities/"what they're looking for," having guided many students through applications and being intimately familiar with higher education.
