Situated in a small, two-story apartment complex, this first floor, fully-furnished 1 BR & 1 BA apartment will help you beat the heat this summer. The spacious, bohemian living room is an ideal place to relax and connects to a small balcony with blooming bougainvillea and fiddle-leaf figs. The bedroom is perfect for one or two people and features a comfortable queen size bed, side tables, and lots of light. There is ample storage space (multiple large closets and pantries) that are available for use, and the kitchen has a stove, microwave, fridge, and Vitamix. The apartment stays cool in the summer, but there is also central air for the really hot days. The bathroom is off of the bedroom and contains a shower and toilet; the sink + staging area is located between the bedroom and bathroom so multiple people can get ready for the day at the same time.
The apartment has plenty of amenities, including fast WiFi, a TV with HBO Max, Netflix, Hulu, and AppleTV subscriptions, two bikes, a balcony, a great collection of books and art supplies, a SONOS sound system, white noise machine, air purifier, Vitamix, and more. There is laundry in the building and you use an app to pay for the washer/dryer instead of needing coins. Trash and recycling are taken care of on site. The neighbors on all sides are typically quiet and respectful (no parties) but because this is an apartment complex, you might occasionally hear small snippets of conversation or doors opening/closing. Please be advised that there is a short flight of wide stairs to enter the apartment from the street.
North Hollywood is an active neighborhood full of young creatives and families. It is an arts district and has multiple live theaters, comedy venues, galleries, and coffee shops. There are myriad restaurants and bars to choose from, including the Idle Hour, a highly-rated brewery, and several tiki bars. The apartment is a 20-minute walk to the red line (metro) which will take you one stop to Universal Studios, a few stops to the heart of Hollywood, or onward to downtown. It is also close to the Chandler Walking/Bike Path, which takes you to Burbank or to the Sepulveda Basin depending on which direction you walk. There are two bikes available for use, as well as a protected parking spot if you have a car. Street parking is also easily available, and there is a Ralph's around the corner or a Trader Joe's about a mile away. The surrounding area closest to the apartment is a quiet community with interesting homes and Southern California landscaping.
The neighborhood is a 10-15 minute drive from the Burbank airport and, because it's LA, the sky can be noisy at times. The Burbank Airport has quiet hours from 10 PM - 9 AM that help mitigate this. There is easy access to multiple freeways (the 101, 170, 134) but you won't hear noise from any of them. There is a sweet neighborhood library, park, basketball courts, and much more!
I am looking for someone (max 2 people) who is clean, quiet, and responsible to live in and care for the space (re: my plantas) while I travel this summer. I am flexible on dates and can make the apartment available as early as May 25 + negotiate an end date depending on your plans.
My name is Alex (she/her) and I am a professor, community/union organizer, and cultural worker. I am an LA-transplant originally from the Midwest and have lived in North Hollywood for two years. I'm 40 years old as of this year, a Pisces, and I read, write, walk, and laugh a lot. I'm trying to get into boxing.
While I will be available to answer any questions, my dear friend Nicci (they/them) will be your primary contact person throughout your stay. They live in West Hollywood and will be available to help with anything you might need. I am hoping to avoid involving the property manager or landlord, if you catch my drift.

In order to best communicate expectations + conduct a mutual vibe check, we will meet via Zoom if you're interesting in renting the apartment. I will expect at least the first month's rent prior to you moving in.
A small, quiet dog is OK. Unfortunately, loud dogs, no matter the size, are not allowed. We can discuss a cat!
