A beautiful and legendary Victorian house that many know as “The Rug” is looking for a housemate! This house has historically been a community-oriented living space (though not a formal co-op) and we’ve hosted many a fundraiser/salon and other community gatherings. We are looking for a new housemate who is interested in living with others not only for the affordability, but because they genuinely want to build community through housing.

The house features a spacious living room, dining room, kitchen, and 2 full bathrooms. This apartment is a 1 year sublet with an opportunity to extend.

We’re interested in living with people between ages 30-45 who are down to hang in common spaces when the mood strikes and would be excited to live in a place that hosts occasional parties and events, and where friends and neighbors drop by to say hi here and there. On weeknights the house gets quiet around 10/11pm. Sorry, no pets. While we are community oriented, we are also pretty reasonable about the curfew of these events - they’re not on the whole “ragers,” and parties that go on after midnight are uncommon and only on Fridays or Saturdays. We are all engaged in our work and hobbies and have a great balance of calm home life, hosting, and being out in the city. Looking for someone equally engaged and active in their interests.

In that spirit, we’re also looking for someone mindful and considerate of the space, including general cleanliness and diligence around dishes and other high traffic common areas. We have a rotating chore schedule, so someone proactive and down to pitch in to keep the house tidy and liveable is ideal. Organization a plus too, we’re always looking for ways to streamline!

*Quick note - the bedroom is by the kitchen, best for someone who is a good sleeper and NOT sound sensitive. If you get really affected by sound or are a light sleeper, this room is probably not for you. We’re all reasonable and keep quiet hours roughly between 8am-11pm (a bit later on weekends), but want to give a fair heads up that it’s situated in the middle of the house and so some background noise during the day will be expected. Usually some of us are up and using the kitchen around 9am.
