About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and patient Community Habilitation Worker to support an adult woman with autism in her home and community. The ideal candidate will assist with daily living skills, promote independence, provide companionship, and support positive social engagement. Occasional behavioral challenges may occur, so experience with autism and behavior support is preferred.
Responsibilities:
-Provide one-on-one support in the home and community settings
-Assist with daily living skills
-Encourage social interaction and community participation (e.g., outings, recreational activities)
-Support development of independence, communication, and coping skills
-Implement strategies for managing occasional behavioral challenges in a calm, respectful manner
Qualifications:
-Previous experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or related fields
-Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and professional in all situations
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
-Driver’s license and ability to drive individual
Schedule & Compensation:
-Part-time position, evenings and weekends
-Flexible scheduling based on family needs
-Competitive hourly rate
We are seeking a 1:1 Community Habilitation staff to work with an individual with autism in Westchester County (Yorktown). Applicants must have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Applicants must also have a valid Driver's License and the ability to drive the individual to various community activities/events.
