Studio in a School NYC, LLC (Studio NYC) seeks a dedicated, organized, collaborative administrator with a background in visual art to join its program team as the Coordinator of Teaching and Learning (the Coordinator). The Coordinator will provide administrative support for Studio’s professional development program and curriculum initiatives. The Coordinator will work closely with the Program Directors and Program Coordinators, the administration team, as well as outside consultants and program sites. The Coordinator will join a passionate, talented team in a dynamic and well-respected art education organization while acquiring knowledge about art education.

The Coordinator will report to the Director of Teaching and Learning. This position is a non-exempt, full-time position, and will also be expected to become a member of United Autoworkers Union Local 2110.

Studio in a School Association is comprised of two LLCs Studio NYC and Studio Institute. Studio NYC engages over 30,000 public school students in all five boroughs each year and aims to ensure that New York City public school students receive standards-based, quality instruction in the visual arts regardless of socio-economic status. Studio Institute provides programs and creates new partnerships with communities and cultural organizations nationwide. Studio Institute is currently working with partners in Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland, Memphis, Newark, New York, Philadelphia, and Providence.

About Teaching and Learning
The Teaching and Learning Department provides in depth professional development for staff and artists to ensure that Studio in a School delivers the highest quality art instruction for the students we serve. We develop curriculum and resources that are rooted in Studio pedagogy, encouraging exploration, discovery, and skill building across a variety of art media.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Artist Recruitment and Training:
• Support ongoing artist training through scheduling, outreach, hosting (in person and via Zoom), preparing materials, and documenting trainings.
• Prepare, organize, and share artist training materials and resources.
• Coordinate logistics with training facilitators and presenters, as well as offsite training venues as needed.
• Responsible for coordinating lunch orders when necessary for training sessions and ensuring cleanup afterward.
• Schedule artist intervisitations and shadowing at residency sites.
• Track artist hours for professional development and curriculum related work.
• Manage correspondence to artists and sites, including mailings, invitations, requests, and reminders.
• Support artist recruitment through outreach, attending job fairs, and developing relationships with cultural partners.
• Prepare statistical reports and gather data ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.

Curriculum and Resources:
• Help develop, organize, edit, and distribute curriculum materials and resources.
• Conduct art and education related research for use in curriculum development.

Others:
• Provide administrative support to the program team.
• Attend networking/community/Studio events, as necessary.
• Actively participate in Studio’s performance evaluation system.
• Other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Desired Skills and Background
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in visual art, art education, art history, or arts-related field is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of one year of related work experience, including experience conducting administrative tasks and working with multiple vendors, partners, and/or stakeholders.
• Knowledge and experience with visual art and art education.

• NYC Department of Education Fingerprint and Background Check Clearance upon employment.

Location
• We are currently working on a hybrid schedule. The Coordinator of Teaching and Learning will be asked to work at least 2 days per week in our office at 75 West End Avenue, New York, NY, though this schedule may shift and evolve.

Hours
• As a member of the administrative staff, the Coordinator of Teaching and Learning is expected to work from 9 AM to 5 PM each workday. Any schedule shift request must be requested in advance and receive approval from the supervisor.
