Close to the Jetport, a number of spectacular local beaches, and downtown Portland, our Poet's Nook is ideally situated. Our place has a country feel while being close to the action. This comfortable and unique apartment has a separate entrance, free parking, and great views of the Maine sky, and horses grazing across the street.
Tenants have the apartment (which has a separate entrance) entirely to themselves. Access to the backyard and back porch.
This is a two-floor apartment with a private entrance. The upper floor has a large and sunny bedroom with a king-sized bed, a full bathroom, and a sunroom. There is also a very comfortable queen-sized sleeper sofa on the first floor. There are smart televisions on both floors.
The apartment is attached to a farmhouse that was built in 1799, another rental property that houses up to five. This 2 acre property is located in a rural neighborhood in Scarborough. Even though we're just a 3 - 6 miles from everything (groceries, mall, beaches, Portland, airport), living there feels like being in the country.
There are plenty of trails in the reas, as well as beaches, but tenants will require a car to get around. Pets are welcome as all as they are well-trained and supervised.
Sunny, comfortable, eclectic, and lots of books. Great views of the sky and super quiet. Rural setting but close to everything you'd want or need. You should know that the road in front of our house is not entirely quiet because it's one of those winding country roads that people love to drive fast on.
This property is a much-loved short-term rental during the summer. As such, it is carefully curated, has a well-stocked kitchen, and is carefully maintained. It's an excellent place to relax, re-set and refocus.
We are happy to answer any questions you might have about the property and give you a Facetime tour!
This space is not handicap accessible. Utilities are included in the monthly rent.
Greetings! My name is Cate Marvin (she/her) and I am a professor of English and Creative Writing. I am 55 years old, and I have owned this property since 2017. It would be fair to say that renovating it has been my obsession for some years. What started out as a beige, carpeted, country-kitchen monstrosity is now an eclectic and warm space with hardwood floors, original art, homemade curtains, and MC furniture.
I have been a Super Host for the past three years and have consistently received five-star ratings. Having stayed in vacation rentals that have disappointed (and even appalled), I bring my perfectionist tendencies to my hosting and aim to curate a special experience. It makes me happy when guests have enjoyed the space. It helps me feel connected to my fello humans!
At this time, my teenager and I are living outside the country as he finishes his remaining two years of high school. My husband, Hutch (he/him), has remained in the area and will be the person who you deal with in person. He is a social worker, an animal lover, and an overall amazing person.
While we are open to renting the space month-to-month, preferred tenants would stay through the mid-term season, until the end of April 2026. We do have flexibility, however. We require one month's rent as deposit and a signed lease.
We love animals. We want you to have your animals! We simply ask that if they destroy any furniture (scratching, chewing, etc.), that you assist us with the cost of repairing or replacing said item.
