About this Service

I offer one-on-one creative consultations for artists. Working through dialogue, close reading, and attention to the relationship between form and content, I help sharpen vision and voice and shape work—whether a single piece or a larger body—in relation to the artist’s goals.

With work in early stages of formation, my approach is less about normative critique, unless specifically requested, and more oriented around response, perception, and opening up a series of generative questions. In later stages, I am happy to make clear editorial suggestions.

I can also review artist statements, proposals, and grant materials, with a focus on clarity, voice, framing, and positioning.

About this Lister

I am a New York–based interdisciplinary artist working across music, text, film, and live performance, with a background in painting, classical music, and experimental performance.
I tour as a musical artist and have written numerous evening-length narrative performance pieces as well as an essay and story collection.

Background and Expertise

My work has been presented by NPR, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Lincoln Center, and has been supported by a Creative Capital Award, a NYFA Fellowship, Franklin Furnace, and residencies at MacDowell and Yaddo.

I have guest taught at Dartmouth, Yale, Mass MoCa and other universities and institutions, and curated various performance series. I also teach writing and performance through The Shipman Agency's Work Room.
