Must love animals as we have 1 rescue dog, BeeDee, (medium sized mutt with a little Collie we think) and a (three-legged) rescue cat, Smokey, (Russian Blue). They are both loving and friendly and will be on the premises throughout. They roam freely in and out of the house during the day; at night they primarily sleep inside on their own beds. Please know that BeeDee does bark when other dogs walk outside our gate or if strangers come up our dedicated drive. Again, they are 100% friendly, but her bark sounds harsh even though it is pure bluster. Happy to fill you in more if you are serious.

The house: Dramatic open plan living area with 30ft ceilings, log beams and free-standing fireplace (which you will need in July/August (southern hemisphere winter!)). Funky and cozy furnishings, local art, and tons of pictures from our amazing adventures on the continent.

Primary bedroom has a California king bed and 2nd bedroom has a twin bed top bunk bed set up which is best for a kid or nimble and easy-going adult; however, there is also a loft with a full sized bed in the main living area as well as what we call the TV "mosh pit" (with Netflix and Amazon and at least one other streaming service included (would just ask that you reimburse me for on demand paid contact) in which many visitors have enjoyed a good night's sleep. For a short stint you could manage 7 people. Longer term, 1-4 people comfortably.

There are two work areas. One is the bar area in the main living area. I use this as a standing desk (with a bar stool for relief) or in the primary bedroom there is a narrow desk that looks out over our green garden. Gorgeous sunbirds, red chested boo boos and even harrier hawks and Turako visit us all the time. There will be two large PC monitors and a do-hickey that links them together with your laptop.I will also have mack silicone earplugs for you if you need to concentrate and want to block out the sporatic barking.

Small but fully functional kitchen with gas stove, electric oven, full-sized refrigerator. Totally kitted out with necessary pots, pans, dishes, flatware, spices, salt/pep sugar etc. Feel free to use what you find kind of deal.

The premises/location: House is on a 10 acre shared plot but it is quite private with foliage surrounding our whole yard. There are also a number of other houses hidden on the property which is fully fenced and manned 24 hours by lovely men who open and close the gate.

Bonus of sharing the plot: within a 7 minute walk from the house is a great local supermarket with lovely fresh fruit and all other food and household items as well as a pharmacy, super bread and pastries bakery and other shops.

Depending on dates, our extraordinary nanny and housekeeper may be there daily to tidy dishes and do laundry and light cleaning. Ubers and Bolts are easy to access, and we have a great and super dependable private car service.

Nairobi is the ideal base to work remotely (good wifi and we have a back-up generator when the power goes out) from which to explore the glorious bush, wildlife and beach that East Africa offers.

Happy to discuss the marvelous weekend and day trips we've done/do including Nairobi National Park, Amboseli National Park, the Aberdares, Mt. Kenya, Laikipia, Meru, Tsavo, the Masai Mara, as well as stunning places at the Coast on the Indian Ocean.

About This Lister

We are long-term Nairobi residents, originally from New York. I'm a corporate and entertainment lawyer. I'll be working remotely from the States in August to be with family.

Please know that this home is quirky and old and overall this opportunity is not for fastidious folks looking for sleek, impeccable, luxury facilities. Nairobi is dusty and the house is in its senior years with creaks in the floors, an occasional squirrel or hyrax running around the roof/attic. But we love this about the place.
Rest assured though; it is a clean, comfortable, spacious home.
