About this Lister

I first tasted competition when I ran the mile in 6:04 at age 12. In high school, I ran cross-country and played softball and basketball. I continued running in college, earning my MA and MFA in print media, and eventually settled in New York City.

As an educator and working artist, I ran mostly for fitness until, at 40, I was inspired to run the New York City Marathon. After training for seven months with my new team, FRNY, I finished with my first of many Boston Marathon qualifying times. While working as a tenured professor in visual arts, I earned my MS in Exercise Science, Physiology, and Nutrition and completed several nationally accredited coaching and sports certifications. I’ve been coaching since 2016.

In 2021, I left my teaching job and moved to New Mexico with my two dogs and a turtle to focus on my art practice, running coaching, and racing through the high-elevation mountains. I enjoy running everything from cross-country to 24-hour races, with my favorite events being 5K and 50K mountain trail races. I will celebrate my 60th birthday this year by running one hundred miles over 24 hours. How do you celebrate?
