This sun-splashed 2-bedroom in a classic, beautiful brick 5-story building.
The Apartment:
Spacious 2 bedroom in the heart of the East Village - close to everything. There are windows on both sides of the building, and the apartment goes from the front to the back. There are no neighbors on my floor, so it's feels very private and has views to the street and views to the backyard. There is a very long, exposed brick wall that goes all the way across the apartment, from street-side to courtyard.
The street-facing room is currently setup as an office - but can easily transform into a bedroom, and has its own door, big closet, and two nice big windows with Southern exposure for great daytime light. It's on the 3rd floor, and there is no building across the street, so you have amazing views of the sky / light all day. I have a KING bed, and still have plenty of space. Both rooms would accommodate a king bed, but obviously people who want more space / storage could do smaller bed.
There are 2 really big closets, and 2 storage areas for luggage / other bulky things that you wouldn't need regularly and wouldn't want to put in the closet. There's a microwave, new fridge, new oven and a dishwasher which is nice to have.
My bedroom is on the courtyard side of building also has two nice big windows. It's absolutely silent and incredible for sleeping - you wakeup to birds chirping and can't hear any cars, AT ALL. Which has given the best sleep I've ever had - after 15 years of living in NYC.
The Bathroom is awesome - they've put in black marble tiles and it's really sleek and nice. with great hot water pressure and brand new fixtures.
The Building
It's a 5 story walkup building. Classic tenement. Brick. Really nice. The trash / recycling is right out front, and is always cleared daily. There's a roof, pretty basic, but you can go up there to sit and read or get sun or whatever. Because there are only about 12 units in the whole building it seems really private and everyone is friendly and respectful and minds their own business. There are accessible fire escapes on both sides.
The Neighborhood:
1 minute walk to Tompkins square park (it's between B and C, across from a church). Easy walk/run/bicycle to the East River park for nice runs and walks. Hundreds of amazing restaurants within walking distance, including on the block. Blah blah blah.
My lease goes until the end of January - so about 2.5 more months. So looking for a couple or pair of friends who can takeover the lease for the last 2.5 months and then decide if they want to stay beyond that (you will! It's an incredible apartment! I've been super happy here). I think you could either finish out that lease and start a new one, or just start a fresh one from the day you move in - up to you.
The rent is a flat 4k per month, and I can connect you with landlord directly so no broker fee, which is nice.
Couple small-ish things that make a big difference though: I had dimmers installed on every light, which creates great mood lighting - and also had custom blinds installed for all windows - so you have really nice new blinds. Seems minor, but it took like a month to get that done and cost like over 1k. So a nice little perk to the overall setup you'd have.
I'm a writer. I have been super happy in this apartment, but unfortunately have to move out of the city.
I will connect you with a landlord directly and you can make an agreement with them. They are super responsive / helpful / reliable.
A few people have dogs in the building.
Idk exact sq. footage. but I would guess 800.
