We are subletting a large room on the ground floor of a 2-floor, 2-bedroom duplex brownstone apartment in Crown Heights, on St Marks Ave between Nostrand and Rogers, from Nov 1 to March 31. Rent includes wifi and all utilities.
My partner and I are spending most of our time upstate, so you will largely have the entire place to yourself. We sometimes come back to the city for a few days here and there - but when we do, our space is on the second floor of the duplex, with a separate entrance, so you will still have a lot of personal space. We share the kitchen and shower on the first floor (we have our own bathroom upstairs with a toilet and sink) during those days.
The apartment has an in-unit washer/dryer and a huge backyard equipped with a fire pit for winter enjoyment and an eating table for balmy days. The room is very large and can be sublet furnished, with the bed, desk, couch and rug you see pictured. Or if you prefer, we can move the furniture out. There is a large built-in storage cabinet in the room, but no closet. I do have a garment rack that can be set up to hang things if you'd like. Even though the room is on the ground floor, we live on a very wide street, so sunlight pours in during the winter months for much of the day. The building is a 4-floor, 3-unit brownstone. It's an older building that hasn't been renovated in a while, so there are some quirks but also a lot of original details and charm.
I love this apartment and have been in the building for 10 years. It's just 2 blocks from all the cafes and restaurants, etc on Franklin Ave and is less than 1 block from Nostrand Ave. Prospect Park is a 10 min bike ride, or a 25 min walk. The A/C train at Nostrand is a 10-min walk in one direction, and the 2/3/4/5 at Franklin is a 15 min walk in the other direction.
We are ideally looking to rent the space for the entire time period mentioned, but for the right person may be able to offer some flexibility on dates.
About This Lister
We are a couple in our 40s who split time between Brooklyn and the Catskills. I (Merete) am a filmmaker and my partner, Kevin, is a therapist. It's important to us to find someone who will both appreciate and take care of the space while we are exploring upstate living more full-time.

Rent is $1850/month.
Would love to meet and show potential renters the space in person. But also open to meeting over a video call and giving a virtual tour.
We will ask you to sign a short term sub-lease agreement before moving in, and to pay an additional deposit of 1 month's rent before moving in. 1/2 of the first month's rent is required up-front to officially reserve the space.

*The upstairs portion of the apartment will be off-limits when we are not there, though we could discuss a small discount on the rent if you are willing to water plants once a week or so
Pets Policy
