Our furnished apartment is for rent while we’re on sabbatical for the 2025/26 academic year! The start date is flexible. We’re looking at late August or September 1 through August 1 2026.

The apartment is on the first floor of a small and historic Finnish co-op in Sunset Park.

The co-op is located on 40th St, just blocks away from tons of green space. Sunset Park is one block away, Greenwood Cemetery is five blocks, and we are two avenue blocks from Industry City, which is a waterfront home to lots of great restaurants, bars, coffeeshops, grocery stores, and retailers. Additionally, the apartment sits in the heart of a predominantly Mexican neighborhood (delicious tacos) and just two blocks away from Brooklyn’s Chinatown (amazing Chinese take out).

The subway station is an eight-minute walk away where you can get the D, N, or R trains into downtown Brooklyn (one stop on the D/N) or Manhattan (two stops on the D/N). Half an hour to Manhattan and ten minutes from downtown Brooklyn.

The best way to describe the apartment layout would be as a modified shotgun: the living room and bedroom are separated by a doorway without a door to maximize light in both spaces. The rooms have high ceilings and feel bright and airy as a result.

Perhaps the best part of this apartment is that we have two separate offices with furnished workspaces. This is an ideal space for a person or couple that works from home. Computer peripherals like monitors, etc can also be made available.

The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with all you need to cook at home and includes a brand-new dishwasher.

About This Lister

We’re an academic couple that was long distance (Manhattan and Philly) for a few years before settling in Brooklyn about a year ago. Our space reflects that we both work from home and appreciate a quiet and tidy lifestyle. We’re hoping to rent to a person or couple that reflects these values and will care for our home while we’re away. It would be great it somebody wanted to care for plants, too!

We’ll be in southern France for the year but we’ve made arrangements for friends in Brooklyn and neighbors on site to be available if anything comes up.
