We’re subletting our bright, quiet 1-bedroom with a separate, spacious office in a well-kept pre-war building in Bay Ridge.
The apartment is thoughtfully set up for both living and working: a comfortable living room, a calm bedroom, and a dedicated office (not just a corner) ideal for writing or remote work. High ceilings and soft, consistent natural light make the space feel open and easy to settle into.
Located on the second floor (easy walk-up, elevator also available), the apartment comes fully furnished with internet already set up. Laundry is in the basement and easy to access. The building is well maintained, with a responsive super and a small flower garden out front. Recycling is available, with a trash chute for convenience.
The neighborhood is one of the things we’ve loved most. Within a few minutes, you can be by the water or in Owl's Head Park—perfect for walks, runs, or just sitting outside. 3rd Avenue is nearby and full of bakeries, Middle Eastern restaurants, and small cafés. We’ll leave you a list of our favorite local spots.
Transit is easy: the R train (Bay Ridge Ave stop), the X27 express bus, and the ferry are all nearby and offer reliable access to Manhattan—while the neighborhood itself remains calm and grounded.
This is a great fit for a couple looking for a comfortable, quiet place to spend the summer, especially if you value having a real workspace and a neighborhood that feels lived-in rather than transient.
We are a couple who have built both our lives and our work in New York. I’m a teaching artist and theatre maker, and my work has been rooted in the city’s public schools and independent theatre scene, including collaborations with Target Margin Theater and other venues.
My partner is a tenured professor and Chair of Anthropology at Rutgers University, where he has been teaching since 2018. Alongside his academic work, he composes and designs sound, and we often collaborate on performance projects together.
Our home reflects our shared practices—it’s a lived-in, creative space with books, art, and the traces of ongoing work. We care deeply about it and are looking for someone who will enjoy it and treat it with the same care.
