I have been living in Roosevelt Island for the last 18 years. Recently, I have been working remotely more and more, and at the moment I am trying to stay closer to. my elderly parents who live in another country. It is for this reason that for the first time i am considering stay away from my favorite place in the world, Roosevelt Island. My lease will renew in July 2026, so I am willing to sublet until end of June 2026. For the right subtenant, there might be the option of lease takeover.
TENANT
To ensure a smooth and secure sublet process, I kindly ask that all interested tenants meet the following requirements:
- 1-Month Security Deposit: A fully refundable security deposit equal to one month’s rent is required to secure the apartment. It will be returned at the end of the sublet, provided there is no damage beyond normal wear and tear.
- Proof of Income: Applicants should provide two recent pay stubs or equivalent documentation (e.g., employment letter, freelance income records, bank statements) to confirm the ability to comfortably afford the monthly rent.
- Government-Issued ID: A clear copy of a valid photo ID (e.g., passport, driver’s license) is required for identity verification.
Rental Agreement: Subtenants must sign a written sublease agreement outlining terms, responsibilities, and duration (4 months, with the option to extend upon mutual agreement).
- Respect for House Rules: Subtenants are expected to treat the apartment with care, observe reasonable quiet hours, and be mindful of the neighbors and building community guidelines.
- Smoking is not allowed in the apartment.
- Move-in/Move-out Flexibility: Preferred move-in date is May 1, 2025. A walkthrough (in-person or virtual) before move-in and at move-out will be scheduled.
