Hivewild is seeking a creative individual to grow the administrative capacity of the company and enhance financial development. The Grants Manager is responsible for managing the full life cycle of grant applications, proposals, and awards for Hivewild, under the direction of the Artistic Director and with support from the Hivewild administrative team.

This is a part-time, fully remote, hourly position. Hourly rate is $27/hour, with an anticipated 12-hour/month commitment. This is an independent contractor position, and does not include benefits. The contract duration is one year, and may be renewed at the end of term and at the discretion of the Artistic Director.

Applicant’s title will be Grants Manager. Applicant will report to Katherine Maxwell (the “Artistic Director”) or as otherwise directed by the Artistic Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General Administration
- Attend weekly virtual meetings with Hivewild’s Artistic Director and development team
- Help maintain digital asset management system across the organization

Grant Writing and Management
- Develop, execute, and oversee grant application timelines, including but not limited to: working calls, draft reviews, edit requests, final approval, and final submission
- Spearhead all grant applications, collaborating with other administrative staff on writing and editing materials for applications
- Actively search for prospective grants based on organization’s programming, goals, and financial needs
- Manage strict deadlines across multiple grant applications and/or reports throughout the calendar year
- Submit grant applications on behalf of the Company as needed / at the Artistic Director’s request

QUALIFICATIONS

- Must embrace the mission and values of Hivewild, and be willing to familiarize themself with the organization in order to succinctly communicate Hivewild’s mission
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification necessary
Bachelor’s degree in a related field recommended
3-5 years experience with grant writing, arts administration, and project management
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail
- Broad knowledge of the professional arts landscape and industry
- Ability to work asynchronously while maintaining strict time boundaries
- Proficiency in Google Suite, ASANA, Submittable, JotForm
- Working knowledge of major city/state funders: NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts, Brooklyn Arts Council, Creative Capital, etc.
- Clear communicator with excellent speaking, writing, editing, and proofreading skills

About Us

Hivewild is a Brooklyn-based dance company established in 2016 by Artistic Director Katherine Maxwell. Hivewild presents movement as an affirmation of human value and emotion through formal evening-length works, public works, site-specific projects, dance films, and situational encounters. Through accessible performance work, Hivewild offers the broader NYC community opportunities to engage with dance performance centered around human interconnectedness and environmental care.

Hivewild’s 28+ projects have been presented at a variety of venues around NYC, including New York Live Arts, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum; CPR- Center for Performance Research; Triskelion Arts; and Atlantic Terminal-Barclays Center. Film works have been shown at 14 national and international festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the TanzFilmFestival, and the San Francisco Dance Film Festival. Performance works engage a variety of viewers: artists, art enthusiasts, and those who have yet to experience contemporary dance work.

Hivewild aims to leverage its programming to create actionable pathways for dancers and dance lovers to engage with environmental justice. Endemic to each Hivewild work, and the processes that create them, are strong senses of dignity, interconnectivity, and playfulness as a catalyst for movement, sensation, and interdisciplinary artistic exchange.
