If you have ever wanted to learn how to capture the moving image on film, develop, edit and project actual celluloid film, then we can help you achieve this goal. Whether its for a personal or cultural project - I can give you the hands on experience with all the equipment necessary to do so.
I teach at a learning lab in Downtown Brooklyn called MONO NO AWARE. The space offers equipment, facilities and services for motion picture film - affordable public and private workshops
Public workshops vary in price depending on what you want to learn and the related hard costs, but start at $10 and go up from there. (http://mononoawarefilm.com/community-workshops)
Private classes are $50 an hour and after 5 hours they include one roll of black and white film with a free scan of the work.
I started the non-profit organization 18 years ago in an effort to make film affordable and accessible to the public. The space is host to over 2000 people a year and everything you learn to use within the classroom remains accessible outside the classroom.
Our mission is building community through the cinematic experience, I love meeting new people and empowering their practice.
I've been making films since 1996 and started the learning lab in 2007 to serve the community.
