In the rugged desert environment of Abiquiu, the secluded Casita Samuel is located on Plaza Blanca (“the white place”), memorialized in countless paintings by Georgia O’Keeffe. On a remote mesa with spectacular views at the end of a steep dirt roadway, the 200 square foot casita is a modernist jewel that blends native rock and local materials and is enhanced with architectural details like large windows, real cork floors, and terrazzo in the kitchen and bath. Includes a light-filled salon with full-size bed and mini-split, a small kitchen, bath with shower, murals by Scooter LaForge, and 9 acres of pristine natural landscape surrounding it all. Sleeps 2. Free WiFi. Special long-term rental rate: $950.00 per month + utilities.
The casita Is a space of deep solitude and silence—offering an ideal location to rest and dream in the midst of a pristine enchanted landscape. This modernist jewel sits 150 feet above an arroyo on the edge of the Carson National Forest. Originally from Los Angeles, I went to the University of New Mexico in the mid-1960s. That's when NM got me! It took me 40 years to come back. I spent the last 50 years doing marketing and PR in the arts and culture mainly in Los Angeles and New York City. My nonprofit organization. Some Serious Business, has produced performances and events on both coasts and hosted artists's residencies in New Mexico, Tuscany, and Hawaii. I own a separate house on the property and will be sharing the 9-acre landscape. My experiences with guests and the rural people here, has given me joy and a deeper understanding of our connectedness.
