For rent: my two-story, 2-bedroom, 1.5-bath house in Andes, NY. The house is available starting 10/15/25. I'd love to rent the house for a year, with the option to renew the lease after one year. The house can be rented furnished or unfurnished.
The house was built in 1820 and recently renovated and updated. The kitchen is well-equipped with a gas stove; there is also a washer and dryer. The upstairs bathroom has a deep clawfoot tub. The living room features a soapstone wood stove. There’s a large fenced-in backyard and large driveway for parking. It’s a very cozy house with tons of historical charm, and it would be perfect for an individual, a couple, or a family with a child. Pets are fine but I do ask for a pet deposit.
The house is equipped with excellent wifi; there’s limited cell reception in Andes, but wifi calling works perfectly.
The house is located right in the village of Andes, a small, quiet town with a handful of really wonderful amenities. It's around the corner from Andes Central School and Dirty Girl Goat Farm, and a five-minute walk to the beautiful Andes Rail Trail. It’s also a short walk to the Andes Hotel (legendary bar/restaurant), Wayside Cider, Cafe Mutsi, The Little Grocer, Leo Koenig Inc. art gallery, Diamond Hollow Books, cafes, shops, awesome public library and post office, and FREE open to the public swimming pool!
There is a Trailways bus stop right in town (3 minute walk from the house; bus to/from Port Authority) but you do need a car for things like grocery shopping. Andes is 15 minutes from Delhi (for gas, grocery shopping, farmer's market, bars and restaurants), 20 minutes from Margaretville, and 15 minutes from Bovina Center.
As both a writer who loves quiet and a parent who loves things to do with kids, I can say that Andes is a great place to be.
Iris (she/her): I’m a writer, editor, educator and parent. I moved to Andes in 2019 after 12 years in New York City. I own the house and will be the contact person for tenants.
Proof of income (tax returns, paystubs, bank statements, etc.), two references, security deposit (one month's rent).
The house is available for showing most mornings, 9am-1pm, as well as Fridays and weekend days.
Pets are allowed but I do ask for a one-time pet security deposit of $200.
