Housemates are professionals in their 20's and early 30's. Very friendly group who along with the landlord likes to keep this beautiful 127-year-old brownstone clean and in excellent condition. Some housemates like to cook using the beautiful fully renovated kitchen or garden using the raised beds in the large sunny backyard.

Located in quiet beautiful Park Slope (12th street between 4th and 5th Avenues) with many bars and restaurants nearby (Commonwealth, Barbes, Freddy’s). There is a full grocery store half a block from the house and Whole Foods Gowanus is a ten - minute walk. House is 3 blocks from the 4th Avenue 9th street stop on the F, G and R trains (with Starbucks next to the train station), 4 blocks from Prospect Park, 20 minutes to downtown Manhattan, 30 minutes to Williamsburg.

About This Lister

My name is Mark Michener. I have owned 257 12th Street (between 4th and 5th) for 40 years. I live in Pennsylvania. I take great pride in make this beautiful 127 brownstone as comfortable a living environment as possible. I am absurdly responsive should anything need to be addressed in the house. Although after 40 years of making improvements there is very little left to address. If nothing needs to be addressed, you will not hear from me. The house has a great vibe. This is what the housemates have told me when looking for a new housemate:

"Our ideal housemate would be clean, take initiative around the house (taking out trash etc.), be respectful of the other roommates and boundaries, have good communication skills, be friendly although not looking for roommates to be friends with (if it happens naturally that is great). Overall, we hope to find someone who is willing to contribute to keeping the wonderful and peaceful vibe we have going right now.
Recently we’ve put a lot of effort into refreshing the living space with new furniture and art and Mark has kindly updated the kitchen appliances, washer, dryer, medicine cabinets, etc. Rosa - our delightful cleaning lady comes every two weeks. We’re mainly looking for someone who is easy-going, independent and respectful of the rest of the housemates".

Rental requirements

1. Respond to the listing by either calling me (owner/landlord/manager) or texting me. Please do not send an e mail WITHOUT your cell number. Otherwise, all I can do is send you a return e mail asking for your cell or for you to call me.
2. Once we talk voice to voice and determine that the space is a good fit, I will connect you to the house via a house wide e mail.
3. Once connected to the house you will schedule a time to see the room, the rest of the house and meet housemates.
4.If you and the housemates both think it is a good fit, you and I will have a zoom call to meet face to face.
5. If that goes well, I will send you a one - page application and a one - year lease.
6. Once the lease is signed, I will set you up in Apartments.com where you can pay one month's security ($1900) and the first month's rent ($1900).
7. I will then formally introduce you to the housemates via e mail and arrange for the handover of keys.
