Hi, I'm Mahx. I'm looking for a subletter for April 8th-18th--dates can be somewhat flexible--while I pet sit at my partner's in the neighborhood. Ideally looking for someone to take the whole time, but open to shorter stays as well! See @ the bottom for other dates I'm looking for this year!
My home is a sweet, calm apartment in a large, friendly building. The noise level varies a lot between winter and summer months (my apt is facing the street, so it can get a little boisterous) but it's generally a pretty chill vibe. I'm two blocks away from grocery stores, the prospect park lake, the Q/B trains, and (IMHO) some of the best restaurants and coffee shops in Brooklyn. The classic Brooklyn pre-war building has two small steps to enter, and then you can take the elevator up to the third floor.
My apartment is a huge 1-bedroom, with lots of windows and light. The bedroom contains a dedicated desk and large extra-comfy queen bed with a memory foam mattress, and the bathroom is a pre-war classic with both a walk-in shower and a tub, as well as cute retro tiling. The large foyer and living room provide lots of space for relaxation, with two couches and large table for meals. The large kitchen has everything you need--microwave, coffee maker, appliances, and more--and makes cooking delightful. I also have a full-sized air mattress that can be set up at your request. There's not a *ton* of space for it to stay up without it feeling in the way, but it's an option if you're interested!
No parties/entertaining allowed please! Due to my employment, this apartment ***is not really child-friendly*** (see note below) but I'm happy to consider everyone that's interested, as long as you're aware of the situation. If you're looking for a chill, comfortable home-base from which to explore all that New York has to offer, you've found the perfect apartment!
About the neighborhood:
I live in Prospect Park South, off of the southwest corner of the incredibly beautiful Prospect Park, the gem of Brooklyn. Nestled on a lively block, the apartment is two blocks from everything you could ever need--a quick 2 minute walk to busses, trains, grocery stores, bodegas, wine shops, and tons of great restaurants. Step outside and in no time you'll be inside Prospect Park for a picturesque walk around the lake, or hop on the Q or B train, and you'll be in Manhattan in 20 minutes. Easy transportation makes it a breeze to get to all of NYC's cultural attractions, museums, and amazing restaurants. Plus, if you're warm, it's just a short train ride to the famous Coney Island Boardwalk and Beach! True city living at its finest.
I may also be looking for subletters for the following future dates:
+ April 22-26
+ May 6-11
+ June 12-16
+ June 28-July 11
+ Sept 14-20
+ Oct 18-Nov 9
I'm a queer filmmaker (they/them), who has lived in Brooklyn for over 15 years. During the sublet I'll be a few blocks away at my neighbor's apartment, so happy to give neighborhood tips/help out in a pinch! I usually like to do a quick video call with subletters so i can give you a walkthrough of the space and answer any questions.
For all stays, I request a cleaning fee of $150 USD to make sure the house can be in pristine condition for your stay! If you'd prefer, I can waive this if desired - I'll still clean before you come but I won't hire someone to do it.
Please note: I work in the adult film industry, and some of the books, art, and awards I have around the house contain kink, nudity or mentions of porn. It's not super obtrusive, but it's not really a child- or teen-friendly space! If you have any questions just ask (I always leave it to your discretion), but this likely isn't a good fit if you're traveling with kids, or feel very uncomfortable in the presence of adult content.
