We are looking for a furnished short-term apartment or sublet for the two of us only (not a shared apartment). Ideally, we are seeking a quiet, light-filled space where we can both live and work during these months. Reliable Wi-Fi, a functional kitchen, and laundry access are especially important to us. Our maximum budget is $3,000/month.
We are particularly interested in neighborhoods such as Astoria, Ridgewood, Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, Bed-Stuy, Greenpoint, or Bushwick, though we are open to other areas as well. We appreciate neighborhoods with grocery stores, cafés, parks, and easy subway access nearby.
We are responsible, non-smoking, non-drinking tenants who keep a clean and organized home. During our stay we will mainly be focusing on artistic and academic work, so we value a peaceful environment and will treat the space with great care.
We are a Hungarian artist/researcher couple — Dominika Trapp (38), a painter and doctoral researcher, and Péter Závada (44), a poet, playwright, and assistant teacher— moving to New York from September 2026 through the end of January 2027.
One of us will be in New York on a Fulbright Scholarship affiliated with Watermill Center and CUNY, conducting research on the legacy of Robert Wilson in the contemporary New York theater scene, while the other will participate in a residency program at Residency Unlimited, preparing for a large-scale exhibition connected to her doctoral research on ethnographic archives.
We are a calm, responsible, and hard-working couple. We have been long-time abstainers, live quietly, and spend most of our days reading, writing, and working on our artistic projects. Dominika will also have a separate studio space on Governors Island where she will be painting during our stay. We also love discovering local cuisines, going to the farmers' market and cooking.
