We are subletting our furnished apartment in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn by Herbert Von King Park park that we have lived in for the last 7 years starting mid June or early July. for one year (were slightly flexible depending what we find uptown and what you need). I will be completing my internship year in clinical psychology for my doctorate in a hospital uptown and the commute will be too hard for us to manage as we have a baby and I will be working in person full time.

We are also open to swaps with anyone near Morningside Park/Upper West Side/South Harlem who wants to spend a year in Brooklyn and love our home!

The apartment is furnished and spacious and has a beautiful backyard which we have tended to for the past 7 years and have planted figs, peaches, rasberries and blackberries, and apricots, and numerous flowering plants which you will enjoy! The unit is a sun drenched duplex with two bedrooms (one queen, one full). The parlor level features an open floor plan with large eat in kitchen, a dining area, and a living room with large floor to ceiling windows. The kitchen has access to a large private patio with stairs leading down to the private garden. The first floor features a spacious entryway with coat and shoe storage, a large primary bedroom and second bedroom. The primary bedroom has an en suite bathroom with bathtub and a large closet as well as access to the garden. There is a second full bath close to the second bedroom and a half bath on the parlor level by the ktichen. Downstairs in the finished basement there is a washer and dryer and storage.

In the basement we have set up a woodworking space and ceramics space. If a renter happens to be either of those things and wants to use our equipment we are open to discussing this keeping some safety concerns in mind. If not, than we will ask that you do not touch the equipment and use the basement primarily for your storage and laundry needs.

We are two blocks away from beautiful Herbert Von King Park which often has live music and is a great place for picnics. It is also walking distance to the G train, the JMZ train, the B44 and the B38 bus lines. There is a bikeshare station right across the street. Ample on street parking.

We have one year in mind but we are flexible with our dates a little bit. We are not sure what will happen after this year and there may be a chance we don't come back to our apartment and in that case we would move everything out and give you the option to continue renting from us. Unfortunately we just cannot say for certain that we will not want to move back in so this is an ideal scenario for people looking for a one year sublet.

About This Lister

We are a couple in our 30s and a one year old who have lived in this apartment for the last 7 years. Sonora (She/Her) is a PhD student in Clinical Psychology. Arthur (He/Him) is a city planner who specializes in bicycle and pedestrian planning. Arthur is an immigrant who moved to NYC as a small boy and loves the city more than anything. Sonora moved here eight years ago from Colorado. We love to garden, cook, socialize, woodwork and do ceramics and walk around in our community.

Rental requirements

We would just like to speak first and get to know you! This is our home so we want to make sure it is a good fit. We are hopeful that whoever rents our apartment would be able to water our plants once a week and take out the trash for the building on Monday nights (a 10 minute job).

We are charging a damage deposit that we can discuss together when we talk.
